In a certain population, the frequency of color-blind males is 1 in 100. Assuming that the population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium at this locus, the frequency of color-blind females is approximately
A. 0.0001
B. 0.0005
C. 0.01
D. 0.02
E. 0.025

colorul blind is X linked autosomal recessive disease
so incidence of disease and gene frequency same
so gene frequency 1/100
carrier 2pq
q 1/100
p 1-q= 99/100 almost 1
so carrier 2/100=0.02

color blindness is an x linked recessive condition
so the gene frequency is the proportion of affected males i.e.,1/100
since females have to inherit 2 x chromosomes their gene frequency is 1/100*1/100=
0.0001
so the frequency of colorblind females is 0.0001
answer is A
if they ask the frequency of hetrozygotes in females then it is
2*1/100*1/10000
