During an abdominal surgical procedure, the surgeon wishes to locate the ureter in order to ensure that is not injured. The ureter may be found immediatelly anterior to the origin of the:
A. Common iliac artery
B. External iliac artery
C. Internal iliac artery

Well question is very tricky. The ureter passes in fron of the bifurcation of Common iliac artery which means origin of both arteries i.e External and Internal iliac artery.

If at all I have to choose between these two ,I will go for origin of External iliac artery i.e choice B

Best of luck

Sorry I was misled thinking the question is asking the anterior relation of the ureter:

I used this mnemonic:

"Water under the bridge":
The ureters (which carry water), are posterior to the ovarian/testicular artery.
· Clinically important, since a common surgical error is to cut ureter instead of ovarian artery when removing uterus.

But what is POSTERIOR to the ureter, I dont know

Posterior relation wud be Psoas major in the abdomen as the ureter is a retroperitoneal structure

External iliac artery is the answer, I am sure. This corresponds to the second point of narrowing of the total three that ureter has.

yep..B is the more approprt ans
