A newborn has shown a total bilirubin of 13 mg/dL on 4 th day of life. he was born at 28 weeks by dates and weight 2.2 lbs. what is the most appropriate management at this point of time?

He need phototherapy

Even though ist look like physiologic jaundice (but it should be ditelaled is it direct or indirect bilirubin) this baby is premature and needs phototherapy. If its conjugated bilirubinemia phototherapy can cause bronzed baby syndrom-from Kaplan notes and Nelson

Physiologic juandice is <13 so shouldnt think in that direction. Also its gotta be unconjugated value as conjugated value is not this high even in biliary atresia

this new born is premature and the bilirubin exceeding 12 mg/dL..so i think he needs phototherapy as soon as possible
