I think that if you discontinue steroid in CCS, it will automatically taper. There is no option for tapering.

Just did CCS CD -got some what familiar with software- Feedback says-must not give prednisone in ITP without bone marrow-SAD wasnt aware- Hope there arent many more such yardsticks they catch us on.
And truly there are innumerable ways to go about a case..
No more calls either..
Weekends up ahead and will be taking sm family time out

Hi Amygdalaa and Retail,
I hope you do not mind if I join this nice blog.
I am in the same boat as you guys are - trying to get Step 3 done by end of October.
I just realized that UW-CCS does not let us practice on the CCS software; rather it is just a case-by-case printout of 88 cases.
I was hoping something beyond the USMLE CD for practising CCS; something that would evaluate me based on how I did in a given CCS case. For example, score of 7/10, etc.
Thoughts?

HI all,
Yesterday I read peds and some IM from Crush. It is a pretty entertaining book going thro all the high points. Had fun reading it.
Today I have just done 48 qs from uw. My score still needs work ;-) I plan another 48 before I go to bed tonight. Lets see how it goes.
Hi retail, yes, I tried CCS to sometime back and there are many ways to go about a case. Mostly we need to know the major steps not to do in any case and major things to do. That should keep us safe.
Hi gas, you could try usmlesteps123.com. They have some software for CCS practise.

I had already taken UW subscription.
I realize that if I study well, and maybe practice on USMLE CD, I should be good. Currently, I am not logging more than 1-2hrs of study/day.

Hi
this week was o k until wed. I have finished abotu 700 qs on uw. avg still avg:-) Now I have decided to give a reading to my step 2 notes. Will do the rest after that.
In the mean time I have barely finished 20 ccs cases in uw. This weekend I want to finish atleast another 20 more.
gas I think that is an ok score, but I wouldn't know, would I?

Good to see u guys after a long break..
Decided to pick up surgery, Couldnt go thru my CK book, gave up , did QS from the step 3 bk
Planning to do med QS next
Have taken a long break from UW but will only go to it tomorrow

Only 2 weeks to go and I am not sure if I am ready. Last week I gave a readign to some topics in IM from s2 notes. Still have to do neurology and pulmonology. I practised some CCS cases from uw last saturday. Just getting kind of familiar with the software.
This week I plan to finish the rest of IM and the rest of uw qs. If possible finish readin g/practising all CCS cases once. May be too ambitious? I'll try my best.

I am lagging way behind too. Exam in 15 days, and I do not feel ready at all. Could not study last 3-4 days due to fever/sore throat?
I am thinking of postponing once again to early November!
It's high time for me to get disciplined.

Hi gas16, how are you feeling now? Hope your sore throat is better. Please do take care of your health and try to give the exam only when you are absolutely ready. The two day exam demands a lot of physical stamina as well.
How is your prep coming along Retail? Amygdalaa? Promoter?

thanks for checking on me. It is really nice of you.
Between the kids, my husband's travel and my OCD for checkng email/forums it is not going great. only 1 week to go. I still have 200qs in uw. did not complete revision of notes yet. Have been pactising ccs when I feel bored of reading. I feel uw is too much info for ccs. I am going to do it from fa.
My avg for uw timed is still about 55%. I cannot postpone. So I'll just have to do what I can in one week and go for it.
any thoughts?

Scheduled for first week of Nov in NY
Will fly in 15 days to NY
Have 400 Qs of UW lest and then Have to make myself to thru the notes. I have been unable to go thru the CK books again but my SCORES in UW have convinced me I really need to..but then CK notes dont cover whats given in UW
I'm planning to brush thru Strong Med as I havent used FA in any step
Good to see u guys....u all do motivate me..

Hi Amygdalaa and Retail, good to see that you are working as much as you can under your circumstances. Either of you planning to take NBME? I had 3 or 4 ethics questions per block. Please brush up on that. Good luck to you both! It is a relief to be done with the exam, but now I am nervous about the result as it should be out one of these days....

where did you brush up your ethics from? Did you hsve source?
dont worry, you had a good nbme score. YOu will do well.
So far I have never taken an nbme for any usmle step- due to various reasons. I dont plan to do it this time.

I am not using FA for notes, only CCS. If you look closely the matter for CCS in FA is the same as UW except for the notes and presentation. So I have no time to read uw, so I practised with FA on the CCS software.
Right now I am doing qbook, as I cant concentrate on reading.

Hi guys. I am at a point where things wont go into my head. I did a quick read of peds from the s2 notes. Since I cant think of anything else to do that will work, I have started qbook. Have finished IM, Neuro and 1 block in OBG. Will go to peds now and then psych. This is more for morale-boosting than anythign else. My scores are fluctuating between 62 to 80%(depending on subject).
On thurs I will do sample cd qs. On fri and sat one last review of uw notes/step2 notes.
Sunday and Monday are the days. God help me!
