- H.influenzae is not a " virus" rather a bacteria
- Polysaccharide capsule is only for bacteria not for viruses as far as I can recall.
- Conjugation of protein with polysaccharide capsule does not " activate T-helper cells more so than it used to" as you have put.Rather fact is that polysaccharides are " T-cell independent antigens" and when we conjugate them with proteins they become T-cell dependent antigens".In other words polysaccharides can activate the T-cell only and only when these are conjugated with proteins.
Best of luck

This just shows that it's all about the CONCEPTS!!! The questions has nothing to do with which organism (bacteria or virus, which is why i didn't really read the organism, and mistook H. Influenza for Influenza A). It's basically just asking about conjugation. That was the take-away message from my last post.

In other words....JUST READ THE LAST LINE OF THE STEM!!!! "Why does this conjugation improve immunogenicity?" Will save you lots and lots of time on the real thing....

- Usmle is the exam of "concepts" not of "memorization"
- We are here to discuss the "concepts" not to read only "last senstence"
Best of luck

Leopold i don't know what your problem is. From the moment i've correct you on S2 splitting you'e been on my case, trying to disprove or argue with me every chance you get. I don't mind being corrected, in fact i encourage it, but at the very least, please ready my posts carefully, and please do not put words in my mouth. For example i know that the USMLE is an exam of concepts...which is why i said " This just shows that it's all about the CONCEPTS!!! " And we ARE discussing the concept here. I simply said that answering this style of questions has nothing to do with which organism the question's talking about. Did that offend you?

Please do not get upset.Actually we should be clear about basics. No?? As far as you are referring to the question ,I am sure that pulmonary vascular resistance is not properly understood by you.For it kindly refer to that file which I uploaded regarding this topic. That will definitely help. For help of my friend http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/40447 Best of luck

I like ur explanation leopard..I just read immunology and now do understand the questions very well.... but it is somewhat of a memorisation. U have to memorise...polysacchride is t-cell independant and peptides are t-cell dependant

there's no need to argue, we are all here to learn. Understanding concepts and memorisation are both very important. I don't think we can make it without one of them.
