a 4 yr old gal had inc. diff. climbing stairs over past 3 months.she has a N identical twin sister and an 8 yr old brother with similar problems.he has been diagnosed with Duchenne's dystrophy.
which of the foll. best explains the discondance in the identical twin
1. parental genomic imprinting
2. Skewed X inactivation

2- Duchenne is X linked recessive so if the girl has the disease must has the father's X chromosome inactive.

the father's or the mothers? if it's x linked, i think it's the mom that is passing it on. pls correct if wrong. thanks.

The recessive copy of the allele in the normal twin would have been inactivated by turning into barr body. The copy of the allele that is inactivated is random & unpredictable.
