Hey Long, Duy, Robin,
Congrat to Robin, could you please tell us your experience on step1 ?
Long, I graduated in 1995, not attend any prep center.
Duy, , I heard that to get the LORs, you need to have observation and then ask for LORs .
Great to know you .
Keep in touch.

I'm very happy to know that there are some peers here. It's not easy, especially for step I. Everything is new. I have been preparing for a couple of months. I graduated from the University of Medicine of HCM city 7 years ago. And I don't remember what I 've got from the first years there. Sometimes I feel frustrated and I always hope that I'll have some good friends to encourage each other as well as to share experiences...Shall we be not only study friends but also life friends? Good luck for all of us!nodnod

hi,all from VN.
I am a 5th year stud at Tokyo medical and dental university in Japan. My family is now living in HCM city but I have been in Tokyo for the last 6 year. I am planing to take USMLE1 next april. I heardthat USMLE1 score is really important for the match , so I aim to get the score at least 90%.
I have kept on looking for VNmese guys who are US docs and really happy to find this website where I can know people chasing the same goals. There are so many things I would like to ask for advice.
thanks a lot for ur help and good luck to all

best wishes

I were from C-17. It's very nice to meet you here. Maybe we met a couple of times when I were still in school. Everything is new and I do like to have some friends here...
By the way, concern about Long, are you LXT from B4 and A6? You make me think of a Vietnamese idiom like " Bring bell to ring overseas " !? smiling face
Dear Robin, your story inspired me. Actually, when I read it I wonder where you were from. I still keep a copy about your experience preparing for step 1. Have a question, why do you have to go to Houston for step 2 CS? Is it full in LA?
About dental license, I know some Indian guys are preparing for step 1 here.
Yes, I know that I'm not alone anymore. Let's go ahead guys!

  #14

yeah LA center is full.

Hi all Vietnamese IMGs,

I don't know how many VN docs as IMG in the US, but I believe there are about hundreds of them. I am a Vietnamese doctor as well. I graduated in 1996 from University of Medicine and Pharmacy at HCMC.

I just moved to the US(Cali) a couple weeks ago from Canada. I have done some qualifying tests in Canada, but now I consider to take USMLE. I know people talking about kaplan books and its courses for preparation, but getting to know other experiences is still the best source.

Hope to receive some advice from "dong mon" DHYDTPHCM.

Dr.Pham.

hi guys
I am an International Medical graduate, I am an US permanent resident. I plan to take step 2 cs before step 1 and step 2 ck. I read the information in ecfmg website, they say "Once you meet the eligibility requirements for examination, you can take these exams in any order". But in Kaplan website, they say “Eligible International Medical Graduates will be required to take Step 1 before taking either Step 2 CS or CK". I am so confused now! What information is correct? Can I take step 2 cs before step 1 and step 2 ck? My step 2 cs exam is coming up next month. Please help

hi all,
I have a personal wonder, which maybe you dont care about...but anyway...do you know which states or which hospitals that attract the most Vnmese docs till now?
I heard that you should apply for the programs already have someone from your country....it seems ridiculous but let have a thought: if u r the hospital, do u really feel safe to hire one from the country u have no idea about?

For whatever the answer is (if someone is kind enough to give)...I am in the rush now....my Step1 and ny graduation exam r so near...
Good luck for all
