A 24-year-old woman with a history of migraine headaches complains of intermittent attacks of numbness, diminished sensation, and aching pain in the index and middle fingers of her left hand. She mentions the attacks usually occur when it is cold outside and has been experiencing this for the last three years. Dihydroergotamine (absolute contraindicated in PVD as in this case Raynaud's phenomenon)

Sumatriptan is also avoided in PVD (because vasospastic action) but ergot is more notorious.
