Hi All

Im not a doctor but the husband of one studying for her step2ck. She has done step 1 and cs and is now preparing for step2ck. She gave her step 2 a month and a half ago and unfortunately didnt make it. She got 71. I dont remember her 3 digit score. she is planning on giving the exam again on Oct 13th. After reading many posts on this website i have been trying to get her to go through UW questions. She has been doing a few blocks of UW every couple of days and most of her scores are a little above the average that UW shows except for some topis where she is stronger. i think her study pattern at the moment consists of a lot of reading. I have been trying to get her to go crazy with the UW questions if u know what i mean. She refuses to look at these message boards coz she says she has no time. I obviously want her to do well and am taking this initiative to see if i can get more useful information to help her out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated coz as a support staff i feel kind of helpless at times and want to be able to offer the best advice.

Oh and by the way. She is also pregnant and we are expecting the baby in the middle of november. talk about complicating matters! grin

It is great you are being supportive and understanding. This test is not easy and takes a lot of work. It is obvious she is under a lot of stress right so understand that part. I think you do.Test date coming up and new baby arriving and a HUSBAND it must overwhelming.

It seems she is studying hard and burnig the midnight oil reading and reading but perhaps she already has enought theory but how is her test taking skills? Ask her that.
It seems that she faild the test not due to a lack of knowledge but to poor test taking skills. This test is different in format form step 1. Ask her to do 46 questions a day form UW. Tell her it won´t be a waste of time either. People who are in an area like her as in very close to passing it, can benefit greatly from UW.

I am marry and work. it is tought preparing for it but tell her to relax not to stress out to much and take a deep breath. take at least 6 blocks of 46 from UW. Different days if she wants to. If she scores above 57% average and over 80 percent correct on USMLE cd she is ready.

Good luck !

Thank you Silatk

Appreciate the advice very much. I have seen her studying for a few years now and i do understand that it is a difficult set of exams. Im from a completely different profession but have always understood that some exams out there take a lot out of you. This is certainly near the top of that list.

If you folks think of other ways i can chip in i would really appreciate it. I really admire the way you guys support eachother on this forum. Keep it up!
