Shadia,
Look up the requirements at http://www.medbd.ca.gov/
You can also call them.
You know your number of hours from your transcript, see thier requirements to see if you match.

Mindmentor:

I did find list of clerkships required by CA medical board. They are list on form L2. I could not find how many week or hours are minimum requirement for these subjects. Do you know where to find it? It is so hard to connect to a person at CA medical board.

California Law BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONS CODE about the clerkship number of weeks required
www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/calawquery?codesection=bpc&codebody=2089 .5&a mp;a mp;hits

(b) Instruction in the clinical courses shall total a minimum of 72 weeks in length.

(c) Instruction in the core clinical
courses of surgery, medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics
and gynecology, and psychiatry shall total a minimum of 40 weeks in
length with a minimum of
eight weeks instruction in surgery,
eight weeks in medicine,
six weeks in pediatrics,
six weeks in obstetrics and gynecology, a
minimum of four weeks in family medicine, and
four weeks in psychiatry.

According to MBC, 1 week is equivalent to 32 hours. This is the average workweek of medical students in the US. So it is possible that even with 1 yr intership/clerkship, you have accumulated more than the required number of hours if your workweek is more than 32 hrs per week. They also require a certain number of hours for electives rotation. If for any reason you do not meet these number of hours, you will be sent a SPECIAL PTAL/ CA Letter stating that you have a deficiency in so-and-so areas. You need to complete these deficiencies and submit proof or certificate of completion before they will give you a FINAL PTAL/CA letter.
