List all the differences between epidural and subdural hematoma's ?

  #2

An epidural hematoma is a blood clot that forms above the dura matter.
The blood clot is usually caused by a torn artery. The blood that leaks from the artery forms a pocket that bulges out and puts pressure on the brain. If the epidural hematoma is removed quickly, recovery is likely, because the brain will not be bruised or permanently damaged.
A subdural hematoma is a blood clot that forms underneath the dura matter. The bleeding is usually caused by small veins which have been torn. The blood that leaks from the veins form a pocket that bulges out and puts pressure on the brain. If the pocket is big enough, it can bruise or tear the brain tissue near it, which can damage the brain. If this happens, a full recovery is less likely.
Unlike subdural hematomas, EDH can cross the midline, but will not cross the cranial sutures where the dura is firmly attached. The subdural hematoma, however, may freely cross the midline insertion of the falx or the tentorial attachment. Also in comparison to SDH, EDH is often associated with skull fractures which disrupts the middle meningeal artery, resulting in a lenticular or biconvex extra-axial collection.
