Hi, I matched and signed a contract to start residency in July 2006. ECFMG sent me a DS2019 containing false data. US embassy interview was postponed 8 days from the 18th of June although I received the corrected form on the 20th (busy embassy). Consulate said: 10 days and we will call you (that was on the 26th of June). I emailed them after the 10 days and they said: your file has been tagged for administrative processing. (By the way, I am not from Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan or Syria) Today is the 10th of September. Email replies from the consulate are the same: still processing in D.C., sorry for this inconvenience. Problem is: When I asked about getting a B1 for the 2007 match purposes, they replied: you can apply but it will not come sooner than your J1! So, my post is to encourage all who have had similar stories to put them here, so that we can look closer into how big the scale of such an experience is among IMGs. THANKS

Im sure more people will come out with this prob....it is under reported on the forum. No one knows for sure. I keep getting mixed & often misguided responses. That's why I would wanna hear from someone who has gone through this already. I wanna know if there is something like a transfer from J1 research to Clinical Or do we have to start the whole process all over again....like i mean, do we have to apply for a fresh clinical J1 visa.

Hi, I am pretty sure that transfers are possible, J1 research to J1 clinical or J1 research to H1b. I've asked people at my institutuion (about J1-H1b), they said you have to collect many "signatures" from people above you. So I do not know how difficult is this. However, I think the problem is time period - when to start the process etc. What if your appointment does not end in a way that it is convinient for match? Lot of problems!!! Good luck! Please keep us posted! Thx!

I applied for B1-2 visa to come to US to take step2cs in London. I applied in mid may 2006. My case required additional administrative processing. I am still waiting for my visa. I have reschedulled my exam thrice. I missed my observership in Seatle this August. I am going to miss another if I dont get visa in 10 days. I am worried if I get a visa and pass cs. After a match if I apply for J1 visa, will i have to suffer with this again.?
