hi sga43o,

i have been looking at your posts both here and on sdforums.congarts and goodluck with all your interviews.i just cannot understand how many interviews one need to attend to be secure of a match.could you advise.you seem have studied the whole process better than anyone.

as for me i got 6 interviews of which i might need to cancel 1 because of dates.2 rejections.my creds are img/2002/MRCPsych/4yrs UK clinical experience in psych/currently researching in London/step 1 99 (1st attempt),cs passed/ck taken on 25/10 results due mid nov/planning step 3 in dec .applied 70 progs.

do you think with all your experience will i be recieving few more interview calls or is it the end.i can probably attend around 10+/- 2 interviews due to time constraints.do you think it will be sufficient to match or prematch.

i do need your expert advice and guidance.

many thanks

i think once u get ur step 2 in u will get more interviews. even without it u will get ivs since people with 99 on step 1 never do flunk step 2.  last year i had 5 ivs and no usce and took step 2 in jan 17th.  and i am still here.  u should do fine but i would be more flexible to going to more interviews.  no it is not necessary to go to so many interviews but that i want to be 300% sure. i already got a prematch but not sure about it.  i feel like going for the match to get the best possible program with the best location.also with step 3 done u will do better than most.  psych progs love step 3 out of the way.and no, i am no expert at this, lol.  since i applied machine gun style to a lot of progs i dont know about the progs i applied to.  however i think for next year i can make a better img friendly list then those other sites that charge mucho $$$. (i will charge maybe 1/4 of that, lol.)i am sure u will match. most people say 15 ivs is safe.  however with ur scores, experience and step 3 maybe less than 15 is safe for u.

HI guys

during this crucial time i have started MATCH RELAXATION GROUP

it might sound similar to any psychological intervention but it is unique in several ways....

aim of this group is to develop psychological warfare to bombard the match so that everyone of us takes sigh of relief and feel relaxed......

i am currently working on MATCHDYNAMIC THERAPY ,which sounds bit similar to PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY but has alltogether different principles....

As there are no CONTROLS coz everbody is suffering from MATCHMANIA, i have decided not to make research benefit due to this novel therapeutic approach....

i have made sure that entry to this group is absolutely free to every member on this forum with no hidden costs as ECFMG is going to sponsor it, atleast they have taken some responsibility for their deeds.......

SUGGESTIONS WELCOME......

hi sga430

welcome to this match reaxation group....

well to help you with your concerns i have been working on MATCH DETOX PROGRAM which can accompany ALCOHOL DETOX PROGRAM and i'm sure you will find it useful....

I can understand the pain of withrawal symptoms accompanying such addictions and hence i have contacted both ALCOHOL ANONYMOUS and ECFMG ANONYMOUS to help us with these concerns for long term management

suggestions welcome and limited places left so please hurry up...

GL....

thanks delusion.  hopefully tommorrow i will hear from some programs.  i have sent some thank u emails to where i have interviewed just to make sure my mailbox is not empty.  even a rejection is better than having an empty mailbox.  i wish there were more psych programs. in IM they got over 300.

  #139

hey sga430

i would like no. of psych programs to be 420nod

dont worry i'm getting more photophobic in my right eye than left eye which is often a good sign and then whatever i wish sometimes comes true...

i hope we all hear from programs and i have already intensified MATCH DETOX PROGRAM in view of anticipated increased no. of calls for fellas on this forum....

GL for the coming week.....

Hey guys. Sorry for not replying sooner. I really appreciate you solid and honest advice. I finally got my results today. I got an 88 (218). I've scheduled the step 2 cs for dec. 19 and step 2 ck for dec. 30. My 2007 new year's resolution shall be no standardized testing for a full year. I have recently gotten involved in a couple research studies. One is about the effect of presentation media in screening tests for child asthma and the other is about the savings imparted on patients, employers and HMO's when patients are enrolled in clinical research trials. I'm hoping to have at least one abstract or article published in a small journal here be December and then submit abstracts to other conventions and stuff for the asthma research. I've got one rec letter from a psychiatrist in my home town who is on the teaching staff at IU, another from the head of clinical research at this multi specialty clinic here, a third from the internal med doc that is supervising the asthma research, and my fourth is from the pro-chancellor of my med school in India for the tsunami relief work i did. I'm putting all this stuff up here so that I could get the most accurate assessment of my chances for applying this year possible. I have still not applied to any programs. Still working on my personal statement and I'm planning on beginning my applications just after turkey day (first turkey day back here in 6 years!!!). Aight so what can you guys tell me.

On another note I'm glad to see many of you doing well iv's wise. Keep up the good work and I hope you guys all kick ass this year! And delusion, I consider myself a little out there but I cannot for the life of me decipher your posts. They do offer excellent comic relief so please keep em coming. Thanks guys and Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate it!grin

i havnt heard anything from my eras...so i have nothing new to share

  #145

hi guys

breaking news..................

ERAS HAS POSTPONED THE MATCH DATE TO APRIL 2007

read with discretion as it seems to be the most reasonable explanation to me in view of not having heard from single program in the past 2 weeks... what else hypothesis i can make....

neways nothing much to add and its time to cruise through whatever fair/unfair bit of interviews we have got...

so guys GL and keep in touch...grin

  #146

hmmm...the NRMP website shows no change in the Match date. Check it out:
http://www.nrmp.org/res_match/yearly.html

hi gd11

it was an innocuous attempt to create some humour in this boring period.........

when it seems that people in stone age must have had a fantabulous life having not to worry about waiting for interviews till this wait lets them into modern age ......

so i was trying to come up with a reasonable explanation of november disaster HURRICANE USMLENA ( SISTER CONCERN OF KATERINA -ONLY HITS IMG'S)..............

and ECFMG's attempt to provide compensation for IMG'S by hypothetically postponing Match date...wink

  #148

I appreciated your humor delusion. Keep it up man.

  #149

so it is more of a wishful thinking then, huh?
