Hi piaget,

Welcome to this forum...

I think you should apply this year... your scores are decent for applying in Psych and most importantly programs would definitely consider your MD experience

As far as i am aware i think there are not many programs who need scores>85 in first attempts

I would suggest going thru FMG America Psych Program list containing score requirements ( it comes as free....)

Hope it helps and apply soon.. GL

does anyone know abt the austin texas psychiatry residency program? has anyone got interviews/rejection from there? I have applied there but have yet to hear anything at all..

hi guys

it looks as everything has gone still on earth....

no posts since 2 days..

well thoughts are racing in my mind trying to speculate the reasons for psych programs not sending interview calls...

i know this topic is getting mundane but its still important for us to get over it..

in an attempt to improve my understanding re this match affair in psychiatry i have started writing a literature on 100 REASONS FOR ACCEPTING IMG'S in PSYCHIATRY (i dont think they are too many....)

I would appreciate input from all of you and as soon as this document is published we can ask American Psychaitry Association to have a thorough look at it and send it to all PD'S so as to speed up with match process...

GL guys for the coming week and i'm looking forward to your replies...

From what i gather browsing diffferent forums, i realise people ARE getting interviews/ rejections in psych. Interviews more than rejections. Very few are posting about their interview invite. The activity seems less than IM, because the number of psych programs are less.

UR comments are welcome!!

I just applied to some psychiatry programs.

I'm a US citizen, low test scores/mutliple attempts, took step 3 2.5 weeks ago, USCE (not in psychiatry), 5 publications, 1 US LoR 2 foreign, bad self-esteem. wink

what do you think? Do I have a decent chance?

Hi spebeeto,

i think your visa status, USCE, US LOR and publications are strong points of your application; if you have any background Psych experience then it would be helpful...also very good PS could also make some difference; also how many programs have you applied as its better to apply for more than less...GL

I'll be honest, I applied to psych as a backup. I did some work for the psych dept at my universithy (fmg, but us citizen), had a father-in-law who was an influence blah, blah.

PS is okay, but I'm not sure, when I read what inspirations others have had. Talked about the publications, my reasons for psych (initially no, but fate led me to it, basically), and why I think I'm good for the field. Whoever read it thought it was good (and no, not just my parents).

Thanks for your honest input, delsuion...... I applied to 4 programs in an area around where my husband works. (4 year program is different than 1 year PGY1) and that's it. I know they are competitive programs in other areas of medicne, but all I need is an interview. :S

4 programs aren't alont, I know, but I am unable to leave my husband for that long.... He'd not make it without me....... sad

You will be fine .I will promote you to deputy commander as you get more experience in the fraternity ..And your husband .I am willing to offer him a position in the fraternity if he so desires. But you have to convince him to embrace our rules and regulations regarding our official dress.

Regards

Oh no, laptop. This fraternity is for "those who don't get everything handed on a platter." To me, it seems. My husband, although helpless when it comes to paying bills or doing laundry, will be fine without the fraternity. He's already one of those "Guruchu-like" members you have indicated in your posts. Not a full-fledged-Guruchu, but heading in that direction. Unfortunately.... Makes life a bit complicated at home.

However, I do make sure I wear my appropiate gear to deter all Guruchu ideations, however, tonight I found it was weakening. I believe they have mutated here in this neck of the woods, and I will start trying more of a blue/turquoise tone of undergarments. I can only hope it helps. The Guruchus in Europe seemed to be resistent to white or black. (They are still very old-world)

I will continue the tradition next year, if I am needed again (which it kinda looks like).

But Commander, I am full force in defending our mission. Do not despair, I have our goal in mind.

Hi guys

seems that we are losing this thread... honestly its not my fault as i had been abducted by guruchus while i was trying to decode THE MATCH CODE...

it was wierd just because i dint follow laptop's advice of wearing red only once... and to my suffering i had to spend a whole week with wicked evils as an hostage...

to my surprise these guys have satellite connections to monitor ERAS applications... and more interestingly they are also watching what are PD'S and PC's have been doing in this period of draught.....

man.... they are having gala time and enjoying everything on earth apart frm considering IMG applications... they showed me PD's dancing to the rock tunes and gambling in Vegas disco's...

some dudes are chilling out in beaches in LA and Miami wearing red undergarments....

fortunately i could escape from their UFO by decoding their door lock and bought red clothes at the first supermarket i saw...

well things look a bit dismal but hope we would tide over ...

GL guys

and keep this thread going.....

  #95

Hi loser,

till now 5 calls and my trick has worked already ......

  #96

  #97

  #98

  #99

Hi Guys

got rejection frm Austin Texas.....and it happened just after my guruchu island excursion.... guys i thought i was lucky enough to get rid of guruchus finally....

but my misery is not over yet... i remember having LOC before they took me and now i am sure that guruchus have implanted a device in my brain.........so they did let me go away intentionally....

well.... to add more to my text book first rank symptoms i am thinking that there is a conspiracy against me whenever i see a rejection frm programs especially after seeing PD's enjoying their life like maniacs....not sure if guruchus are making me feel like this..

i am currently brushing up my past research work on passivity phenomenon to get a solution to this problem.......

Would come back with an answer soon ...

till then good luck guys
