i m an IMG, plan to go to states in end Oct for interviews. When should i plan to come back, end jan or should i stay there for the match till march 15. And God forbid if i have to participate in scramble do i have to be in states for that.

whats the safe option to travel back?

stay till the match and scramble...safest option...(but if u have passed step3, u may get a pre-match)

I have no suggestions but i can tell you what I am doing.... i have only 4 weeks of leave.. i intend to take 2 more weeks of unpaid leave if i have more interview calls to attend to.... so far my annual leave is booked from 24th November to 25th December... I doubt there will be any interviewing after 24th dec till 3rd Jan.... Also, I am assuming that most interviews will start by November 1st week and margin of reschedueling is available...

hope this helps.. good luck

Hi there,

I think it may be wise for u to make that decision after seeing how the interview season goes for u. If u have enough calls and a good 'gut' feeling about matching, u could return. If unfortunately, u think u may have to go for the scramble, being in the US in march wud give u the best chance. Although I hope all of us here match into really good programs and start a counselling thread for the future applicants!!
