Lipid disorders with hypoglycemia are FA oxidation disorder. The patients are usually children and are most likely to develop symptoms if they go without food for a period of time (which depletes other sources of energy) or have an increased need for calories because of exercise or illness. The level of sugar in the blood drops significantly, causing confusion or coma.

The question is why ?

Initial compensatory mechanism is Glycogenolysis

Second is Gluconeogenesis (mainly aminoacids )

Then why Hypoglycemia?

Because beta oxydation of FA produces ATP needed for gluconeogenesis. No beta oxydation - no ATP - no guconeogenesis.

Excellent

Gluconeogenesis is an Energy dependent process.Which is provided by Beta oxidation of FAs
