Glucose and FFAs both are energy substrates and they compete with each other When glucose is plenty ,FFAs are used and vice versa .This is called RANDLE GLUCOSE-FATTY ACID CYCLE". How FFAs diminish uptake of glucose by cells not fully known but they do impair it. Best of luck
