A mentally retarded three-year-old is diagnosed with Prader–Willi syndrome. She is above the 99% percentile for weight. Her parents say that she refuses to listen to anything. What do you advise the parents?

A. This is a normal developmental pattern for three-year-old children.

B. This is an abnormal development pattern for a three-year-old child with Prader–Willi syndrome.

C. The child should be told she needs to eat less.
