Hi Mommy,
I know it is hard to divert ourself to book with two kids and thier DAD . For me only two things are working ....being persistant .And thanks to many mom around here....motivation So hey dear, U can do it too...Go for ur dreams

Original Kaplan books are sold by kaplan only.Check out kaplan website
For other options u can try it on www.ebay.com or check out classified in usmle forums where students r selling the used stuff.
Some time u can download from links posted by someone in forum
It is hard to comment on mode of payment and mehtod of delivery as it is between u and the seller.

Mommy , I have heard that Kaplan home study program is not as good as their lecture notes . Check ebay for that. GL

Hmm was done micro in time but as usual could not study this weekend .......unfortunately this is always the case and it really seem hard for me to find some solution to it.
So tonight shall start with Physio and hope to finish by thursday...

Hello usmle for me. I think you are determined. I like to learn from you. When is your test date. And how long have you been studying for it. How many hours aday. How do you manage your house work with studying. Do you do laundary once a week for example. What keeps you motivated? It is my problem to keep myself motivated.

hello all.im not a momy yet,but got recently married and am going to sit fr step1 by oct 07. its good to be a part of ths forum with all courageous momies,boosts up my strenght and gives me energy to get started.I am also trying to get pregnant fr the last 4months...my husband doesnt want to delay a family and i dun want to delay my exam Anyways,keep giving me courage thru ths forum,shall keep in touch with all u gr888 women..see ya..

Hi Mommy,
Though I always enjoy being mom I feel the emptiness within me.It is more often how u want to be identified in society.I feel lucky to be around my kids and watch them grow but it does make me think... will this ever be the same.....As they grow they will enjoy the world outside more than my lap.So it is time for me to join them and be prepared for that change....
I did aim for Jan but am still not prepared...I guess being an old grad need more reading.Want to finish three reading and shall go from there.I manage to put 6-7 hrs a day...excluding weekend..they are worse.Hmmm.....Housework....all that mommys are worth for!!!!It goes on and on and on........never end unless I decide not to do
Dear drsadaf,
My advise to u would be...if u can first finish ur exams u will enjoy ur family more relaxed way...Concentrate one thing at a time.U can do it much better than us.

Hi moms
we are all on the same boat. I have 1 daughter, i love to spend time with her and enjoy every minute ....... I can just sit all day and play with her. But like usmle4me, there will be an empty space in me that I have not completed for myself. I am a IMG more than 10 yrs ago.
Hard to have a family and study at the same time. I am fortunate that I have a mother inlaw who takes care of her when I go off to the library to study. I started studying this month and I am doing a per system review. I started with cardiology. Are you guys doing somekind of a study group online? If so I woud like to join.

Hi marita,
Lucky to have some elder around you...it help just not physically but emotionally as well.I wish I could have someone with me...Idea of study group really seems good but as u see with breaks I am afraid not to be able to be regular...Shall definately look for a group once I am done my second reading.
Could not be around as our family is enjoying "cold" ....Lots of aachooo....s going around.Shall be on track in a day or two....Hard to manage little one.By the end of the day I feel so tired ...I can sleep with my eyes wide open.......
So I am still stuck with physio and shall be done by tomorrow... hopefully...if the little one sleeps for the day.

Finished physiology today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!In this reading I have made my notes did my craming and questions too...So hopefully shall not have to do full reading.Shall refer book for questions only.

Well....this is again the down side.....Expected to finish Pharmac but still left with antimicrobial.....
While reading Pharma even reading less makes me so saturated I feel like I can't absorb anything more!!!!!For me pharmac has always been a worse subject to deal with
I have finished reading pharmac from kaplan and Shall finish antimicrobial from MMRS.
Shall do some more question before going further!!!

I did fast reading BRS Physiology. Then I had a long break. Now I am going back to the books. My plan is to study High yield histology cell and epithelium today. And Gross anatomy high yield the first chapter. I am working on these books until I get caplan notes. My plan to have the test by sep, oct 2007. I will post my progress tomorrow morning. Good luck to all. I have a question about kaplan notes on ebay I found 2004 notes. Are they enough? And there is kaplan notes you can buy them and access them online. I wonder if this is a good idea since they are much cheaper this way.

Hi mommy nice to see u back...
My person opinion is to strictly stick to one book.My preference is Kaplan as its targets to the subject are more usmle oriented.But it is up to you to find a book comfortable for you.Other book may be used for just a quick reference...specialy for old grad like me. About online excess I am not sure so can't comment.But still I prefer to read the book rather online, works better for me that way.

I have to read chapter 2 histology and read more chapters during the day. I don' t have close students preparing for the test since I live in a small town in Florids . so I rely mostly in your advice. Do you think I should buy Kaplan notes 2004 from ebay.

Hi Mommy...I think Kaplan notes are great. I had done my previous read from BRS and HY yield series. If you are interested in Kaplan notes I have I believe the 2004 set. I will check. I can mail them to you if you like, emal me and I can give you details. I took live lectures so I had to purchase a set again and these are extras and there seem no difference than than the new ones really.

Today I was just too busy.Could not read as much as expected.
Second reading is definately taking away the anxiety I had during my first reading.
So I am done with some of the general patho and cvs.Hitting Respiratory tomorrow.

Instead of respiratory I have decided to finish heamotlogy first....I am going way...slow than expected...My little one has to go to a new babysitter for a while and today was her first day...I am happy to see her adjusted well.But unfortunately all this kept me quiet busy...Also a doc appointment!!!!Why everything has to come on same day!!!!
Feeling very tired but still shall try to read some before I go to bed.

A day spent so bad..I was wasting time surfing on internet for some questions and guess what I did questions...but all haphazard...felt like I was going nowhere.
