A patient of yours is suffering from anxiety. You decide to start her on an SSRI but also need to give her a medication that will relieve her symptoms soon. You decide on a benzodiazepine. Which of the following benzodiazepines is most likely to cause dependence?

A. Lorazepam

B. Triazolam

C. Alprazolam

D. Temazepam

E. Diazepam

F. Flurazepam

G. Quazepam

ITS E

nope, it is supposed to be A ( i dont know how  )

  #4

its because its very short acting and hence has more chances of dependance and withdrawl

yeah this one's interesting. triazolam actually has the most rapid elimination (i think that must be synonymous with shortest 1/2 life) but potency is also a factor, putting lorazepam ahead by a nose.

so much for the "thinking" exam! i would have gone with triazolam for sure on an exam if i hadn't looked that up : )
