How do you manage an agitated psychotic pt in the ER?

depending on the patient's condition and state of mind,first secure the safety measures arond the patient if he seems to be a risk to others by restraining him and giving him IM hypnotics.
If the patient is not a threat t himself or others,then start with anti psychotics/benzodiazepines.Try to avoid questions that might over agitate him.Try to find out in history if he has any suicidal ideation.
Plz add to my knowledge as all this info is based on Tv programs like ER and others.
