the answer is E( subacute lymphocytic thyroiditis) reason...... subacute lymphocytic thyroiditis is associated with HLA DR3 and DR5 and is seen more commonly in women than in men... specially seen in post partum period. autoimmune etiology, high t3 and t4 , low TSH, very mild symptoms of hyperthyroidism..... no eye changes. choice A...dequervian thyroiditis(subacute granulomatous thyroiditis)...believed to be caused by viral infection(coxsackievirus, mumps, measles, adeno) or as a postviral inflammatory process.patients give past history of an upper resp tract infection just before the onset of thyroiditis. choiceB...grave's...infiltrative ophthalmopathy associated with exophthalmos is always present. choiceC...hashimoto's.... agegroup effected 45 to 65 yr old women.leads to symptoms of hypo- and not hyper thyroidism. choiceD..reidel...extremely rare....associated with fibrosis of the thyroid and fibrosis in other parts of the body...eg retroperitonium. i assume it also causes symptoms of hypothyriodism.
