Patient drinks 75 g of glucose during Glucose tolerance test. Twenty minutes after she drinks the glucose solution, which of the following biochemical findings would be expected? The correct answer is: Hepatic glycogen synthesis is activated. Agree. But among other choices there is also: Hepatic glycolysis is activated. In the explanation part they are saying that Hepatic glycolysis is inhibited, rather than stimulated. Why??? In liver glucose is converted to Glucose-6-P which then can be used as an energy source (via glycolysis and TCA) or goes to glycogen synthesis. Or I am mistaken????

A 30-year-old healthy woman is undergoing an oral glucose tolerance test. After a catheter is inserted into an arm vein, she is given a drink containing 75 g of glucose. A blood sample is taken every 20 minutes and assayed for glucose and insulin concentrations. Twenty minutes after she drinks the glucose solution, which of the following biochemical findings would be expected? Answer choices: A. Fatty acids in adipose tissue are mobilized B. Hepatic glycogen synthesis is activated C. Hepatic glycolysis is stimulated D. Hepatic ketone synthesis is increased E. Kidney gluconeogenesis is stimulated

Listen hepatic systhesis glycogen is activated Reason Glucose-------------> insuline release ------------------> activates the GLUCOKINASE ENZYME the first enzyme in the Glycogenesis. It is not "glycolysis " which is inhibited rather it is "glycogenolysis" is inhibited which is carried out by "Glucose 6 PO4 phosphatase"(it works opposite ) to glucokinase. If it is written as " glycolysis " is inhibited then it is typo.Correct it please Best of luck

Agree. I think it's a misprint. It should be "glycogenolysis" instead of "glycolysis". Thanks Leopard. I would appreciate if you could take a look at my other question posted in this section: USMLE 123 or USMLErx. Please!!!!
