Has someone done these two banks? Which one is better? I tried 30 trial questions from USMLE 123 website and found a few confusing questions and explanation. One of them, about Glucose tolerance test, I posted earlier. Another question I am confused with is here: A 70-year-old woman seeks medical attention because her skin and the sclera of her eyes have recently begun to look yellow. An ultrasound shows numerous gallstones in the gallbladder and dilation of the common bile duct. Laboratory studies show a predominant increase in conjugated (direct) bilirubin and the presence of bilirubin in the urine. Which cell type, is the first cell type most likely to be damaged? A. hepatocytes B. sinusoidal endothelial cell C. bile duct epithelial cell D. fibroblast E. vascular (venule) endothelial cell The correct answer is A. Why not C? Can someone explain, please!!!!

Honestly speaking ,I have never come across such type of question but I think answer is correct. The reason is simple. As a general principle the cells which are metabolically more active are more likely to be damaged by any external stress or insult (injury) as compared to those which are metabolically inert or less active.Since hepatocytes are metabolically extremely active (Body's chemical Lab),so back pressure which equal on the both bile duct epitheilium and hepatocytes ,the latter will suffer more. Best of luck
