how come, hemochromatosis diagnosed in a asymptomatic patient????

deferoxamine, less invasive...

  #3

phlebotomy.

both procedures are just as invasive (deferoxamine is given over 12hrs, phlebotomy over 4hr per pint). they both have their risks but phlebotomy is gold standard treatment while deferoxamine is given in patients who cannot tolerate phlebotomy.

Hemochromatosis if detected earlier and treated properly (with phlebotomy of course) can prevent the development of cirrhosis and otehr complications. Therefore, you have to treat............

  #5

Deferoxamine is used in ONLY in patients with HH who have cardiac manifestations or who cannot tolerate phlebotomy
