hi rajuanju,

hi, thats great planning and I am sure it will work. Wanted to find out more about when one can take the exams, Can i appear in march, coz i will not be able to start my preprations before december 1st (some family constraints) and I am not too sharp to be ready in less than 4 months. Can you advice. What percentile would i need for dermatology, any suggestions?

Hi all,

I was not ale to finish whole immunology but finished 12 chapters, last 5 to go. I will start physio tomorrow for 10 days.I will try to finish immuno by tomorrow.

So for physio, I will read kaplan(ref.BRS for few things),i will start cell physiology tomorrow.28 pages daily.

Hi armaan0101

Sorry i really can@t give any idea about % U need for dermat.

As for prep. accordig to people views on this website, give full time4 months, don't give exam if u think u r not ready. Hope this helps, sorry i wasn't so helpful.

Hi bubbles,

I am sure u r in the best position to give this exam as patho is most important subject for usmle(acc. to this website) so i am sure u can do it. as far as other subjects are concerned, they r not so bad.majority of people in this forum are 4-5 years from graduation, so if they can do it so can u.all the best.

Hi diary,

I started physio on monday 9th sept. I studied from BRS and started cell physiology and left questions for next day.It is so volaile as very line is important in BRS.I couldnt answer so many questions inspite of reading previous day.

I don't know if its me-slow brain .Could somebody please suggest if reading BRS was good idea or shall i read kaplan and then read BRS. I felt BRS is all important lines written at one place which is so hard to memorize with all the equations and metabolites etc.

But i have planned to finish BRS physio by next 21st sept.

Oh but i am already tired , but i know i have to go on to reach 99% as i planned.

So i should read cardio chapter fromBRS physio today.

GOD HELP ME!!!

Hi rajuanju,

Thanks for your reply. I am in UK too and my husband is working fulltime. I realise it is going to be a bit tough for me to go through basic sciences after having trained in dermatology back home, but I am determined to give it a good try. As I told you, unfortunately I will only be able to start only after I collect my books ( travelling to India soon), and complete some family commitments, this hopefully will be november end. So hope to start in 1st week of december. Could you please tell me.....

1. Can I take my exams in March or April? Where can I get the schedule of exams from?
2. What books will I be able to get from India (considering that it will be cheaper there).

Please be in touch and thanks for your help

Hi,

Its nice to see u r in UK.I have't thought of applying yet as i thought i should study for 1month tosee how much i can do, as people suggest we should be very good before attempting this exam.Presently i am also unable to study seriously with work and also being bit lazy presently.

If u go on ecfmg website u will get all info for applying.

I am also planning to give in march/april/may 2007 step 1.so i think it will be good to study together. For books-where r u goingin India.Get kaplan material(lots of photocopy material available), latest First aid(2005 will do), high yield books for anat/embryo/histo/behavioural/neuroanat.If going to delhi, go to bookshops in nai sarak, old delhi and u will be able to get all thses and see if u like any more.If u want u can buy lipincott pharmac, BRS physio.

I hope this helps.U can email me on rajuanju1@yahoo.co.in.

How do everyone find kaplan's pathology? I'm about to start studying for step 1, and I thought of starting with pathology. I was gonna use kaplan's dvds and LNs. Any comments? rajuanju1, how many hours per day are you studying? I'm also working full time now, and will start today to study, thinking of taking the test january '07.

  #16

One more question rajuanju1, when you say you read kaplan LN, you just read them without seeing the dvds? I started studying today and have seen that the lectures on the dvds contain a lot more than what is written in LNs. I'm not sure if I could only read those notes.
