Are you sure?? What is the source ? Would you please like to share ?? I always thought that pain of arterial insufficiency comes during exercise and relieved by rest.I hope you will help regarding the source.

hi sea-gull,

you are describing claudicant pain which occcurs early on in the disease process. as atherosclerosis worsens, it becomes rest pain. i have had this phenomenon demonstrated by my patients esp diabetics.

this link is not bad. http://www.surgery.usc.edu/divisions/vas/legpaina...

am sorry i cannot tell you a book source cos this is something i know. it should be in most basic texts of surgery. try bailey and love's short textbook of surgery, it will be there.
