I need info fast! Anyone been to either of these programs for Step 1?
1) Pass Program in Illinois
2) UMKC
3) Northwestern Medical Review (held in various locations)
If you have any info about how it did / did not help you, please share.

i did kaplan and was happy with the course. i like the personal attention given at PASS and FALCON. i heard norhtwestern wasnt good, not sure about the other one. i believe PASS starts every month. kaplan gives the best info, but you have to do Q's onyour own. i believe PASS and FALCON's give you more Q&A time with DR's which i feel would be beneficial as well

Thanks for responding FarEastGrappler! Did you attend the Kaplan live lectures? Did you attend the PASS and Falcon? I wasn't clear on what your experience was. Please fill me in. I appreciate your feedback a great deal. Thanks again!

i attended the kaplan live in d.c., july - aug 2003. as for the other 2 courses... i only know what i saw on their web sites. no personal experience. which you choose, totally depends on personal preference. what i would do, if i were to do it again, knowing what i know now? take a few weeks to get familiar with 1st aid. try and get a copy of 2002 or newer kaplan live lecture notes. find the kaplan lectures on mp3. take a month or 2 to go through them. then pic either Falcon or PASS and do the final touches on your review egtting LOTS of q&a time with MD's (unlike Kaplan). 2-3 weeks after your review... tkae step1 and ace it. best of luck

Dear FarEast,
Thanks again for your advice. I have the Kaplan books from the WebPrep course I signed up for, I believe these are the same as those given with the live lecture course. I could use a new edition of First Aid. Did you do the Qbank? and if so what percentages were you satisfied with?

I have a friend in the UMKC 16 week program right now and he loves it. He says it is outstanding. I am going to be signing up for the 9 week course in Sept, but there is a 4 week course in May. I have heard great things, and I have taked step 1, three times now and I just scored a 177 needing a 182. I am frusterated and decided I have done what I can by myself and that this course is going to be great. They have you on a schedule and you are going strong from the minute you wake up until bed time. They encourage healthy eating and wellness to a round your schedule out. Good luck. I would like to know more about the NW program

Thanks for the input. In what span of time did you take the exams from 1st to 3rd. I've taken it before and failed with a 169 so I hear what you're saying and I know your pain. Ugh!
I think I'm going with the NW program. It's happening earlier in a location that works better for me. I talked with someone at UMKC and they were pretty convincing so I think you and your friend will do great after attending. I might have gone to the UMKC program but I don't want to wait until after May to rechallenge the exam.

the kaplan mp3s are illegal copies made, but can be found on the net somewhere, maybe ebay
ukmc is 16 weeks? wow thats long.

 Hi!
Anyone tried Falcon course?I mean have taken it.Is it worth it and better than Kaplan?.I heard they give a guarantee on passing if u attend 90% of their classes,this sounds really good but still not sure to take it as there is little feedback from previous students.Thank you for your time and good luck in the exams all. :wink:

my friend tried it for step 2. he went to school in the philippines. he said the IM and ob/gyn notes were VERY good.
