I think best thing would be to write an email to ECFMG. They are very prompt in responding and you would know exactly what to do.

Well, I went through their website again and one thing is for sure that they don't accept scanned documents. They should be mailed to them, rather.

thanks a lot guys for the input. one last thing...this doc (Recognition Certificate)was issued to me by the med school when i finished my internship i.e. almost the same time as my diploma and my name has changed officially ....so that is a more recent development. What I am trying to arrive at is that the document isnt so recent...do u guys think it will be sufficient or do they desire a fresh document...........sorry for inconvenience to all but i thought if i mail my document to askthem and they reply after 3 weeks or so I might lose valuable time to take the date for the exam thanks....aarya

Well I don't think they need fresh one all the time. Since your name has changed officially and obviously you will furnish a proof also then I think you don't need to get another fresh one. Best thing would be that when you send these documents to them write a covering letter and explain it that you got this letter on such and such date then you changed you name officially and this is this evidence for it. This will be helpful for them to understand and I think it will work too.

hey drbin i was under the impression that getting an affidavit made is the same as notarising it.....is my concept wrong? Bec from what you have written, if i can get a document made by a notary and it is valid in the eyes of ecfmg, that gives a very simple solution to my problem... pl reply...thanks for your time aarya
