Hello bbb and everone, I'd appreciate it alot if you gave me your insight on my chances in this year's match: I'm an IMG, GC holder, step1 94/233, Step2cs scheduled in a week from now, step2ck scheduled in nov. I was wondering if it would be wise to wait till next year's match? I Sincerly Thank You For Volunteering to make our lives easier! LooLi

I am sure bbb will ask you to read her signature lines .Fair enough .Nobody can calculate anybodys chances .Miracles and disasters are not common but they do happen. You should be fine in this match .I will recommend you to take your chances.

Thanks Alot 'LAPTOP' I appreciate your prompt response and I'm absolutely not looking for any gaurantees on results. I'm smart enough to know that no one knows enough to know the future. I'm just seeking experienced opinions of a program coordinator like bbb. I don't want to waste time, money and nerves trying this year when according to evidence-based statistic, applicants in my situation have slim chances. That's all :-) Thanks Again

Thank you Robin, I have learned opposite thing in threads and posts I have read after I posted that one.. I'm really confused. once I was confident I can even apply for Radiology!!! But now, I'm not sure if I could even make it in IM!!!! So many different opinions by people who might have ONLY heard that from someone else and never had a personal experience themselves. A word by the right person is a thousand times more valuable than that of others who are not.

I don't think you need my comments on the - you have a green card, you have a great score in step one, and you know what my dogs picture looks like. Good luck.

I guess that's a " go ahead, take your chances" statement :-) That's enough for me :-) At least I know for sure now it's feasible, not necessrily gauranteed, which isa realistically acceptable reassurance. Thanks alot bbb, Have a nice evening!

Superabood, Can you apply for Prelim year without applying for a PGY-2 programs? or is it like some advanced-track residencies I learned about that require you to apply simultaneously with the TY or Prelim year?? I was wondering if I match in a prelim or TY but don't match in an advanced track, , what would happen? Would I be stuck or left to mere chances of unfilled positions in advanced track programs? or could I still apply the next year for it with no problems?

Superabood - I am never going to tell an applicant to apply in mid-November. But if that's what you feel confident in doing - it's your decision. Good luck.
