This would help many people like me who want to know as to how many questions in step 1 exam were in vignette format.
thanks for caring to respond

i wouldn't be able to give u a number but a lot of pathology they ask is in the clinical vignette form. dr goljan in his audios talks abt resp and cardiac s/s. it helps if u know physical diagnostic signs.

if i remember correctly i can elucidate the break up (approx only)

15-20 % - direct 2-3 liners u know then or throw them
40%-45% vigenettes
30-40 % supplied with figures,gross, graphs
5-10% - even u will wonder why are they dere???? lol

just an estimate otyhers may plz ..post their estimates

well i hardly got any few liners---2-3 in the entire exam perhaps

i wud say at least 70% vignettes...

remaining were figures...patho slides, physio graphs, cs anatomy ( diagrams or radiology)

I agree with study_ing. hardly any one/ few-liners. The exam had a feel similar to NBME other than the fact that NBME questions are much shorter. In the actual test I had to sroll down for the whole question/ choices at times. Timing is a big issue there. Pls do practice your questions at home in a timed mode.

similar experience.

exam was so similar to NBME and i had about 10 questions from NBME that were repeated word for word and a lot that the words were changed but basically same thing being tested.

only one block stumped me. i had barely enough time to go back and finish those i did not have a clue to, so no time to look over those i had marked. the questions were like long essays written in greek!!!
