Venodilation ---------> decrease in preload ---------> decrease in work load by myocardium -----------------> decrease in O2 consumption GL

Major MOA of nitrate to releive anginal pain is "Venodilation".These are also coronary vasodilator but it also does not help much. These are arterial vasodilators also but in comparatively higher doses.Arterial vasodilation is sometimes harmful because it may lead to Hypotension with reflex tachycardia and aggravation of angina instead of relief.
