I am interested in getting a residency in Derma or Radiology, which are almost impossible for IMGs. So my plan is to get a TY position at a program which offers one of those residencies.
1-Do you think I could greatly improve my chances to garner a position in one of those residencies after completing my TY?
2-Is it common practice to get a TY position at a competitive program in hopes of getting a full residency position the following year?
3-Further, let's assume I get the TY position, which would start in June. So come September 2007, I apply for the competitive residency position. Is that enough time (June - September) to get a recommendation letter from the TY program to include in the 2008 application?
Thank you in advance for your help.
