Hi Scalpeldocph, Thanks for responding. I've been sick lately that caused me more added delay. At anyrate, I'm not easily discouraged but my main problem is even how to get started. I have old Kaplan reviewers my friends gave me after they pass. I can't seem to get the motivation. Do you just start anywhere? Or do you go by with your favorite subject or your worst? Do you start with questions first then read the text or text then do questions? Is it a good idea to enrol in the Kaplan course now without having read anything yet or do I read all the reviewers then enrol in the course? I just don't know where to begin? Help!!!!

Hi kababayans! Based on your experiences, how long does it take for MLE scores to be received in the mail here in the Phils? I took Step 1 on March 30th (in Manila), score reported on April 18th, did the oasis trick...and the red screen appeared! Yey! But when do you guys think I'll be receiving the official results? Tnx!

Hey NLP! Waiting for my score report also. Took it on the 27th and passed. By the way, you took it with my classmate, who passed as well. Congrats to all of us! My cousin said it's three weeks, but I'm guessing it's shorter. Anyway, what school are you from?

Hi hanskenneth! Congrats to us!!! And thanks for the info! The anxiety in waiting for the official results is just sooooo distracting, especially when I'm supposed to be preparing for Step 2! Well, all we can do is just wait and continue to pray... I graduated from DLSU-HSC in Dasmarinas, Cavite. Where are you and your classmate from?

I'm from UERM, she's from UST. We were classmates in UP Diliman. Graduated in 2005 and took the local boards last August. Currently, I'm working full time at RITM for my research background. Good luck sa scores natin! When's your CK and CS?

Oh I see...That's great that you're working at the RITM, I'm sure that will do wonders on your CV! I graduated in 2006, decided not to take up internship, and started to review for the MLE. I'm scheduled on August 10th for CS in Philadelphia, and will take CK sometime in July (haven't applied yet). What about you guys?

I'm scheduled to take CK on July 5th. But review this past week has stalled, so I might extend till July's end.Last month of eligibility na coz I already extended it, mainly because of work. By the way, are you reviewing already? What are you gonna use for surgery? Coz i was able to pull it off with just Surgery recall for the local boards. Of course, di pwede yun lang for MLE.

Hanskenneth, I've been trying to review ever since the beginning of this month (right after I took Step 1) but haven't really accomplished that much yet...especially since official Step 1 results haven't arrived yet... Anyway, I tried using Step Up to Step 2, but I don't really feel that its coverage is extensive enough for CK, so I'm planning to use the Kaplan notes + videos + Step 2 Secrets for all subjects. Unfortunately, the Kaplan notes for Step 2 CK are quite lengthy, so I am still unsure if using the said material is a good idea especially since there is limited study time left before July...(Probably taking the exam mid-late July) I'm also waiting for ASKDOC to post his tips/advice/recommended review material in his post, "WHAT TO DO FOR STEP 2 CK"

To NLP: The results take two weeks to arrive although my Step 2 CK was delayed (probably because it was December). As to Step2 CK Start with Kaplan Notes. Personally didn't use videos at all But did use Step Up to supplement Internal Medicine. Will post more details later at my What to do for Step 2 CK post. Celebrating today, as I just found out I passed Step 2 CS per OASIS trick. so my countdown to Step 3 begins. Have to double time now.

askdoc, congratulations!!! You are indeed an inspiration, not just to all of us Pinoys but I'm sure to all forum members of this website!!! Thank you also for the tips, will try to get a copy of Step Up to Internal Medicine (it's out of stock in most of the bookstores here in Manila). Again, congrats and I'm sure you'll breeze through Step 3!

Hi NLP!!! Got my score today. 221/92. I was totally amazed because everyone said to let go of all work while reviewing. I needed to work, so I took a leave only one week before the exam. It's nothing else but a miracle. Musta?

Hey NLP!!! Congratulations to both of us! Do I sense disappointment? Don't fret. That score is enough for residency. A lot of people don't even pass step 1 on the first take and get into decent programs., so I heard. The fact that we did it on our first try means we belong to the best! Congratulations again!!!

wikepedia: Pinoy is a demonym used by Filipinos for their compatriots in the Philippines and around the world. Filipinos usually refer to themselves informally as Pinoy (feminine: Pinay), which is formed by taking the last four letters of the word 'Pilipino' and adding the diminutive suffix -y. The word was coined by expatriate Filipino Americans during the 1920s and was later adopted by Filipinos in the Philippines. Pinoy is a term of endearment and is rarely used in formal settings. The term is akin to that of a nickname which is used by close family members and friends so that one who uses it somehow already developed some close ties with Filipinos

additional lang for ck: kaplan videos and notes and first aid for step 2ck and do the usmle world questions. kaplan qbank for this step is too simple and will give you a false sense of security that you know your ck already... i studied for five months and got quite a great score with that formula...

Hi louisemd21, I've heard that First Aid for Step 2 CK is not really a good source, which is kinda disappointing since I found FA for Step 1 a great book. What are your thoughts on FA for Step 2 CK? Did it really help you a lot? Is it a must read just like how FA for Step 1 is? I have limited time study for Step 2 CK (hoping to take in mid-late July, but havent applied for it yet). I am about half way through with Step Up to Medicine, and still have all the other subjects to cover. I know, I'm majorly slacking...

nah... NLP... I did first aid for step 2 not as a main book but merely as a guide. By this i mean, i did kaplan videos and books and then i checked first aid for step 2 to see if i missed out on any subject. Their nephrology section is especially helpful. What really matters is that you practice your usmleworld question - it's harder and more mind boggling than kaplan. I also did kaplan qbank in between. Try to cover both to get the best of both worlds if you want. FA for step2 is not as good as step 1 (What sequel does? Well except for lord of the rings...) but it is still helpful.
