hello to my kababayans! hecmd23, its ok to have some rejections and its part of it. hey dude, tell me what hospitals you will be having your observership. i will try to find one when im there already. toxic_doc, observership is not really a hands on clinical experience. but you get a chance to see and observe the clinical practise in the states. and i think you have a better experience coz you already worked as physical assistant which i think is just the same. hi trishue! where are you having your residency? can you tell me your experience, please?

hi everyone. BUti naman may nakita ako pinoys reviewing for MLE. I'm trying to review for Step 1.I've been trying hard to review medyo matagal na din but up to now... i don't have the courage pa din to take it. My Eligibility period will end this November. I reviewed last year but wasn't able to take it kasi I started working na. dati may mga kasabay pa ko mag-review but this time... lahat ng mga kasabay ko tapos na nga step 1. I'm so happy.... may mga pinoy dito and we'll be each others support group. Toxic_doc: san ka dito sa Cali? I'm in long beach.

Happy doc, I am actually in medford, oregon but will move up to ontario, california anytime soon. do you need a study partner? i'll be happy to be one. Karamihan sa mga classmates are based in california and though some of them ventured into nursing (uso eh), they are still interested in trying out the mle. Keep in touch happy doc. I took the courage of taking it the first time (both step1 and step 2 just to gauge my weaknesses). Now i know where i should be standing that is why i am planning to take them both again asap basta naka-settle in na ko sa california. Keep in touch.

Hi guys, I'm an intern in Danbury Hospital, Internal Medicine (Categorical)... My experience with the match or my experience right now? hehe... Anyways, the American Medical System is different from back home and personally, it's very very different... I do not want to sound like I'm belittling our medical schools but it's soooo different here... The way I learned how to get around in my hospital is when I started asking MY MEDICAL STUDENTS how they do their Hx, PE, DDx... it's all different.. and it's no wonder why they prefer AMGs over IMGs... it's not really about the scores but how they were trained, how they were taught... and it's just a far cry from how we were "trained". The reason why they prefer people who already have USCE lies in what I just said in my earlier paragraph... and quite frankly, I couldn't agree more. I love my hospital/program.. it's a community hospital but we get to interact with the specialists more because it's so unlike the University set-up that we were used to back in medschool. My program has a fellowship in Cardiology which is quite new... if you want a relaxed program... then Danbury is a place for you... there can be crazy rotations but half of the intern year we are on elective so it's really fun... you get to have time off, and work hours are strict.. and imagine having a call every 6 days? hehe... Anyways, sobra nang pagpupuri sa program ko to.. just check out my review in scutwork.com... the latest one is mine.

hec... co-intern ko si Betsy, Briggs, Elize... and the two sisters (anne mae and antonette) Both are also in Internal Medicine... Anne Mae is in St Vincent's Bridgeport CT (about an hour away from where I live) and Antonette is in the famous Albert Einstein Medical center in Philadelphia... we are doing fine... marami pa ako batchmates who are scattered all accross the USA.

hey trishue! yeah, i think magkakasama tayo sa surgery and a bit during my medicine clerkship. I remember tonette....toxic pa rin ba yan? she used to have rounds with us sa surgery at 12 am! hehehe! Yep, i heard marami sa batch nyo natanggap, kaya naman marami nainspire sa batch namin to follow your footsteps...isa na ko dun. i even heard some of you got into surgery kaya i'm gunning for surgery also. hey pnoydoc, just finished with my CS exam yesterday, it was ok, it was like i'm doing my practice encounters with my girlfriend....trishue is right, the system is very different, but i guess once you get in, you'll just go with the flow. I might be doing an observership at St. Joseph at resurrectionhealth here in chicago, but not yet sure, the person i contacted is still making some arrangements, i do hope she could also get me an interview spot there, coz i like to do my training in illinois. The person I contacted is also affiliated with University of Illinois Metropolitan health so i think she might make some arrangements there also.

hi pnoydoc, i moderate a large pinoy forum regarding the MLE, and we have over 200 members... actually, di na ako ang moderator, i have 3 moderators who handle it.. oversight lang ako coz i'm already working, hehe, but of course, i can't help but go online coz i'm still in my elective rotation, which will end in a week give my moderators an email, or look for "pinoymle" at groups.google.com or send an email to pinoymle@googlegroups.com regarding my programs requirements, FMGs are welcome, they prefer USMLE scores above 85, but most are in their 90s, they favor those with USCE, they offer both H1b and J1 visas... and they have a 4 years graduation requirement... if you're more than 4-5 years from graduation, you should have finished a residency somewhere. I am not sure with the other criterias but we have a new Assoc PD, who's making some changes, and feeling ko he's going to get more AMGs... but I really have no idea... Danbury is a community hospital, but recently recognized as a University hospital of New York Medical College (strengthen their ties) and our attendings and subspecialists are clinical professors in Yale University School of Medicine... most of my senior residents get their outside elective in YALE... however, this is still a community program so in terms of research opportunities for fellowship, there's not much there.. but you most of the research in my hospital are Clinical, Posters and Case reports... not much milieu for basic science since it's a small community program Benefits wise... just check the websites... we're one of the highest paid coz New England has a high cost of living...

toxicdoc, I am also preparing for step 1 now. I took it na din before. My eligibility will end November but feeling ko i am more ready the first time i took it... so i think if i will take it this nov. I'll be putting myself into risk na naman. I am also working as a nurse here in Cali... i just started working. I was reviewing before na but then when i am about to start working and move to a place near my workplace... i stopped reviewing now na lang uli ako bumabalik sa review and sobra hirap to get that momentum back. Sabay mo ba review step 1 and 2? when will you take it?

hello guys! im confused. you mean to say toxic_doc and happy_doc that it will be your 2nd attempt to take step 1? if that will be the case, you will have hard time to find programs that accept 2nd attempt for each steps. i think Family Medicine is more lenient when it comes to attempts.anyways, focus nalang on your review and try to get high scores as possible. i will be praying for your review and exams. hecmd23, musta kana? how is the matching so far? any interview calls?

hey there, sorry it took a while to reply, i went to cleveland kasi to visit my girlfriend. i just came back to chicago right now, still no calls, no additional rejections, which is a good thing. But the suspense is already killing me. I'm still working on my observerships, wala pa rin bago developments, kaya eto, hintay lang. if i get in, i'll try to give you some tips on how to get an observership spot if you like, and syempre tutulungan ko na rin kayo...i just hope i get a spot, lalo na yung surgery position for the match. good luck everyone!

Galingan mo with your observership.is resurrection health also have observership for IM? What happened to some of our kababayans here? Natahimik. The typhoon was very strong. ang daming billboards ang natumba.Lucky for us the electricity was restored in the evening after the typhoon hit metro manila in the afternoon. its the first time i saw roofs flying all over.kakatakot lumabas.

hello there tg250. im so glad somebody responded. how are you tg250? kayang kaya na yang step 1. buy first aid for step 1. its very effective. almost 60% came from there. but wala pa rin tatalo sa kaplan. but i guess you have to reinforce patho, anatomy with other reference. if you have the video, the better. good for you that your already there. you can find USCE or externship or observership there. i think Cleveland Clinic in florida accepts observership para pandagdag sa curriculum vitae mo. how was your step 2CK exam? oo nga pala, what program are you applying for the residency? study harder.
