Hi,
Oasis is updated last I checked and my exam has been posted (written Aug 8) but I am too scared to do the trick. This is the second time I have written Step 1 and I am praying that I passed. I failed the first time with 180 and this time I prepared again within 2.5 months. I did a NMBE 3 exam and scored 470 so I am hoping that is enough for me to pass. I walked out of the exam feeling discouraged. I definitely know I walked into the exam with a tonne more knowledge than I had the first time around (thanks to Dr. Goljan audio). But I felt all the tips he gave didn't really help me with some of the questions I encountered. I've decided not to do the trick (since it is 1:06am) and wait for the paper results. I did the trick last time and was in misery until I got the final results 4 days later. I don't want to go through that again. I wish everyone luck on their exam and hope I pass this time 'round. Will let you know!

I finally got my results in the mail and I passed!!!! I was too scared to do the trick and it took a week to get the paper results. I am soooo happy. I got 214, 87. My NMBE 3 score was 211 so it is very close. I have to say to everyone who failed it the first time.....Keep at it. You will prevail. If I can do it, you can do it! My first attempt, my score was 180. I was devastated. Just put it behind you and get back to work. The things I did differently was:
1) I listened to Goljan audio and scribed everything that he said down into a note book. I then went over my week areas using the scribed notes. I went over them probably 8 times. I had 2.5 months before retaking the test. That was the best thing I did. Scribe his notes. I couldn't just sit and listen or follow his notes. I ended up falling asleep and his notes are soooo condensed, just looking at it was overwhelming. I wrote out exactly what he said so that each time I re-read it, it was like he was talking directly to me....much easier to read and learn. I also used Lange Pharm cards for pharm. It was excellent. I also used Road Map for Anatomy. That really boosted my anatomy section. I used Kaplan for everything else. Micro, i used only First Aid 2006. I supplemented each subject with First Aid. I had 2.5 months to study before retaking it. I took an NMBE 4 after 1 month to see where I was weak. I scored 390. I studied my weak areas and took another NMBE 3 1 week before the exam and got 470. I really felt the last 3 weeks of studying was when everything fell into place and coming together. I felt I was retaining more then also. I didn't buy Q bank since I had already done it the first time around. I used Q book and Board Buster for questions. I didn't start doing questions until my last 2 weeks of studying. I also wrote down in another notebook all the things that I always got confused with. It ended up being well over 10 pages. I read it every night before going to bed, that in the end, I knew it by heart. Anyhow, this worked for me. Good luck to all you out there. Chin up, you'll get through this. I have had so many hurdles and stops on my way to writing this exam. Just believe in yourself, what you are doing and why you are doing this. So many people are waiting for your help. Good luck!!!
