Sarwat: I'll see what question papers I have left and try to pass them along to you. If you have a Canadian passport and are looking for a J1 visa for the states, it is necessary that you have a pass standing on the MCCEE, or else Health Canada will not issue you a statement of need. Waseem: Yes, I do think if you prepare well for final proff, it will be more then enough to pass MCCEE, however have a look through some of the ethics (from book "Doing Right") and biostatistics (Kaplan USMLE step2 CK) which will be on this exam and are not usually covered in our MBBS. Good Luck to both of you guys!

hey can anyone tell me if there are aby prospects of getting into a sub-speciality in canada. I have heard we should forget about getting into a sub speciality in canada. anyone with some info??? Also ive heard that here in ONtario they don't count ur MCC EE score towards ur selection, u just have to pass it. What they do look at is ur MCC QE1 score. Is that true? anyone who has correct info???

A sub speciality is totally possible, once you've done a residency in Canada or the US. I have a friend who's an IMG and currently doing a fellowship after a IM residency that was done in Canada. The more marks you get on both your EE and QE1 the better for all your applications.

Hi Innocent, I think it will be a good source to start. Focus on the smaller subjects like obs-gy, surgery, psychiatry etc first, and then move on to medicine and other areas.

Hi Innocent, According to most people if you read toronto notes cover to cover then you shouldn't have any problem with these exams. Try to read the small prints given along the margins. Many questions come from that. If you want use another book then kaplan notes are very good too.

Hi Cutedoc, How are you? I was busy sending my Carms application. OSCE was ok. I don't know how I did, But surely missed points in each case. In some cases I forgot to ask certain things and in others time got over. All the cases asked in the osce were from the usmle world and first aid for usmle cs. Regarding Carms I am just applying but I don't think there is any chance. All the programs are asking for fresh graduates or doctors who are not out of practice more than 2 years etc. You should see the program requirements on the Carms website. They are very intersting. Anyways How's your exams?

hii I am an IMG and will be graduating in march. Did anyone have a look at carms and IMG ontario website? When u go to university of toronto or any other university program on carms site, they say that " candidates who have graduated within the past two years will not be expected to have taken the MCCQE1 examination" also they say "Preference will be given to candidates who have undergone assessment through a provincial IMG program (such as IMG-Ontario)". But when u go to IMG ontario website MCC QE1 pass or proof of registration is one of their basic eligibility requirements. On one side they are saying that MCC QE1 is not expected of fresh IMGs but on the other hand they are asking for IMG ontario assessment which requires MCC QE1. can anyone explain this? thanks

I have a question regarding the MCCEE grading system.. Actually I have no idea how the grading system works.. What is the passing grade? What is grade from (like is from 100 or from 700)? Do universities in canada take into consideration your grade or is it just that you have passed the exam? My knowledge about the MCCEE is very low that it is worrying, I know USMLE is details but the MCCEE is abit dark for me.. Can someone shed some light? Thanks

Many programs have cut off point or in other words they give preference to candidates with higher scores. Some programs are asking a score of > 400 on MCCEE and score of > 450 on MCCQE 1 to apply in residencies like family medicine. Passing score on MCCEE is 303. Passing score on MCCQE 1 is 390. Toefl IBT 92-93 for ontario, NF, Novascotia etc. Toefl IBT 100 or more in BC, SASK, Manitoba etc.

I believe the MCCEE is around 6 hours, 3 hours in the morning session, then 1 hour lunch break and 3 hours in the afternoon session. However, the questions are really short, I finished in 5 hours, I assume most of you will be able to do the same.

MCCEE has a passing score of 303 with mean of 500 and 1 standard deviation is 100. So this means that 500 is at 50th percentile. So acoording to this I think that the range of score is between 300 to 700. I could be wrong but this what I understand from the information provided.
