You need to score at least 450 on MCCEE for CARMS. I did loads of questions from the USMLE Step 3 books and found this helped. Have a look on the mcc.ca website for the conditions to postpone - you may lose some money if you decide to do this - obviously that is up to you. If I were you I would get hold of some of the USMLE step 3 book questions and practice loads - there are used copies for sale on Amazon. Good luck to you!

No problem. Did you decide to go for it, or postpone?

Hi mades, I am a young doctor from Austria/Europe and I wanna do the canadian MCCEE exam. Does anybody know if, after passing the canadian exams, I am also allowed to work in the USA? Generally - are the passed Canadian exams equivalent to the passed USMLE exams? I wanna go to Canada/USA to work there because the European medic system really pis..... me off. Thanks a lot for your help Nice greetings from the snowy mountains of Austria Martin

Hi Dion Major tip for the Qe1 is to practice tons of mcqs. You need to be super fast in answering the questions, the time allowed for the mcqs is so short. Another tip is to go to the Gerstein Library at U ofT and practice past CRS questions, all the old exams are in there, they are from many years ago, but they give you a good feel for questions and how to answer them.

Dear everyone I am just about to embark on taking mccee...however i am still overseas, i have read the pccrc accreditation and all the hoolabaloo that i have to go through to be eligible for this examination. NOW MY QUESTION IS, HOW HARD CAN IT BE? LIKE RATE IT FROM 1-10 AND BETTER YET COMPARE IT TO USMLE?

I found the EE harder than the QE1 - but maybe that was just me. The part 3 of USMLE mcqs are good practice for both EE and QE1. Good luck!

hi innocent thanks for your reply. yah, i also found it to be important. i am though trying for it but i have a confusion that if volunteering and observership are the same. some md offer 'observership' rather volunteering. so far i am trying to find the easiest way to get in volunteering. but i dont think it will be that easy to get. what about you. are you volunteering any where? thanks again

hi innocent. yes i have got a chance to do 'observership' in a big hospital in london, ontario. lets see how it goes. by the way, thanks for ur opinion and i want to share a different issue today. in most residency program, they prefer more than 400 marks in ee. but after the changed exam rules of mccee 4oo marks is equivalent to 300 marks since january 07. and u see 400 marks in current standard is huge like precentile rank around 95th. so it makes confusion. do u know what exactly is the required marks to be considered good enough for the match? i have decent scores. still..u know the confusion... thanks shamim
