Hi, Try to get old University of toronto Practice exams for mccqe1. They will give you some idea about the exam cases. otherwise just try to make your own notes regarding common complaints like for eg: 1. What are the questions you need to ask while taking history for a case of acute cholecystitis. 2. What are the investigations you will order for this patient? 3. Treatment plan. Do this for the most common chief complaints and The MCQ section of the exam is exactly same like MCCEE. Please try the demo given on the MCC website. That will explain alot. If you have other questions Post it here. Jase.

Hi there: I know this might not be the right place for this query but I know lots of Canadians are also posting messages on this excellent website..... I only want to ask you how MCCEE is, I mean is it easier than USMLE step 2? I have to take that in September and I don't have any actual MCCEE MCQs so I am doing USMLE World and Q-Bank for this also; am I right? Is it worth taking MCC Online test (costs $40)? Any responses will be appreciated. I have only one week almost so please help me out.

The MCCEE is alot easier then USMLE step 2..usmleworld q bank is good for it, but try some quesions off of essentialmedicine.net there's alot of old questions there, all for free and you'll notice many of them get repeated on the EE. The QE however is a whole different story. U should also invest in Toronto Notes..almost everything covered on both exams is in there.

hi, Advice given by nisha is absolutely right. I did these exams this year and basically I used kaplan notes and q bank. With that I managed to pass mccee, mccqe1 and step2 ck. Well the question style is different in mccee but the content is same. The practice exam given by the mcc is good only in a way that it will help you get familiar with the style of the questions asked. The questions asked in the mccee are really straight forward one or two line type Unlike Step 2. Jase.

Hi, From my exam experience I didn't get any EKG and even if there is a question which has a EKG along with it. Believe me you will know the answer without looking at the EKG, I mean history given to you will give a lot information. You don't have to know any surgical procedures just know the names. Stress on investigations for the chief complaints and diffrential diagnosis. Most of the CRS cases requier you type in the answers in given blank spaces. Focus on spellings and other instructions and donot over investigate. Step 3 is helpful In a sense that the cases given are the most commonly tested topics so you can memorize the d/d and investigations list from them. Jase.

I have applied for the 11th Jan 2007 and I am supposed to take Step2 CK in the first 1/4 of 07. I will be studying for the USMLE step 2 CK and was hoping that this preperation would be enough for the MCCEE. My study material include: Kaplan review books 05-06, Kaplan Qbank, USMLEWORLD, MOCH EXAM, USMLE SECRETS and AID for USMLE step 2 CK., USMLE SAMPLER I am hoping to add to that NBME, KAPLAN QBANK and KAPLAN SIMULATION. Plus, reading few things from Toronto Notes.

It gives u a feel of the kind of questions that ul encounter on the EE, u can buy it for forty bucks on the mcc website, mcc.ca I'm not sure that they'll provide answers though but they do mail u a score report

Hi nazila, There won't be many cases where you have to write the treatment and anyways you don't have to know the doses at all. Like mg/kg etc. You may have to give names but the cases are really about common diseases. Most of the cases will ask you to type the investigations or D/D, so focus on that. Where as spellings are concerned, I guess that small errors will be ok. But i don't know for sure. Do the respiratory system,Gastro,Diabetes,Asthma,Hypertension,Myocardial ischemia, Myocardial infarction, Abc in trauma etc, well in medicine. Ob-Gy and surgery are smaller subjects, Try do well on these subjects as you know that all subjects carry equal marks.

C.P. shah is recomended By many people for public health. But it's very long,I didn't use this book at all, so I don't know about it. I used kaplan step 2 notes for biostatics, ethics and epidemiology.

MCCQE1 is pretty similar to EE except the questions are longer, a bit tougher in that they start to ask more managements and U have a CRS (clinical reasoning skills part) Just make sure u know ur d/d's and managements well for medicine, peads, obgyn and surgery. There's no book like Toronto Notes...learn it now and remember it..it's what all the Canadian grads use to prepare for LMCC too. Il send u some practice questions, all the answers can b found in Toronto Notes.

Hi Cute doc you can write the standard short names but MI is confusing because it could be myocardial ischemia or myocardial infarction. So my advise to you is that, when in doubt please try type the full thing. For the afternoon session you will have plenty of time so don't worry about the time just limit your self to about 3 or 4 minutes per case. If you are unable to answer any question don't waste time on it, pick your best guess and move on. If you want a list of std short names, Copy it from the first aid for usmle step 2 cs book. I think it is given in that book but not so sure. Go to medical school library they will have it. Don't worry you will be fine and I am happy to answer questions if I can.
