Hello Dr.MOM...u have some more company,I am also a Mom-to-be with the only difference that this is going to be my first child,ALhamdolillah.My exam is end of this year & my baby will land inshaALLAH early next year,in this world.
We all shall do it by the grace of ALLAH,nothing is impossible if only we believe .Its great to see moms & moms-to-be here....& hopefully we all shall keep each other motivated & inshaALLAH we shall sail thru this struggle period of ours smoothly!!

Congratulations! Bordetella. You are so brave. I can't. So, I am going to put my exam 6 months after I have my new little one. You will do great. Don't forget to take good care of yourself and your new baby. All the best to you.
Yeasterday, my son went to bed at 8:30pm, then woke up at 10:30pm. When I came home, he's totally awake and was very excited to see mommy back. Oh, my. I had to play with him for awhile. Finally, he slept with my company. It's 1:00am already. I studied till 2:00am with a liitle bit left. Today I can finish the renal and begin acid-base disturbances. Hopefully I can finish it by this weekend.

Hi Drmum,
You are too good and a real motivation for me. Well, I am not a mom ,nor married yet.I am doing my Masters, working part time ,and taking classes,assignments reading .it just takes a toll over me and I cant think whether I should read for MLE and how do I mnage.We have to do a lot of reading for the classes and also for my job. I am practically glwed to the Computer. I am confused .Can you sugest me.

Coolsuch, thank you for trusting me. I can not tell you, do this first then do that. No, no one can tell you this, but yourself. Think over, which one is the most important and urgent one. If you think the USMLE is very important to you, then put your most energe in it, as long as your work and study for master are OK. If you can not handle too much or you want everything perfect and you can wait till you finish your master degree, then finish your degree first. All depend on how you are feeling.
I can tell you my story. I came here ( U.S.A) 4 years ago. From the first day, I believe I should be a Dr. just like what I was. But at that time, I had to find a way to make money to surport my family. I can not just leave my husband to do this alone. So, I went to a technolgy school. Believe me, I couldn't understand anything my teacher said. ( I learnt British English before, but just as the 2nd language). I learnt everything from books by myself. My husband is a real man. We were really poor and I was pregnant at that time. He did everything for me. Then I graduated from school successfully and got the certificate and improved my English at the same time. (It makes me much easier to read those books now.) Then I finished my master degree in clinical science by using my evening time. Right now we both have jobs and bought a house. To me, it's time to make my own dream true.
Sometimes, what you have to do is not the one you want to do. If you have to choose one, then do the most important and urgent first. You don't have to give up your dream. Like me, I read this website several years ago, I made a decision to try the MLE recently, maybe I will finish step1 by 2008. It's not just passing several tests, it's a big project. At least to me, it is.
We all are so weak, that's why we need God to help us and need to encourage each other. Actually, I'm not so strong as you thought.  I nearly gave up several times. Let's help each other, encourage each other and make our dreams come true by God's grace.

Thank you soooooooooo much drmum and believe me I feel so grateful to you.I konw one thing GOD helps those who help others .i am sure you would do it and do it well and now you have best wishes of so many people .we are all with you and together we will do it. i am not sure when i would take it but i will. If you have worked hard on so many toher stuff believe me this would be a cake walk bcoz you know how to work hard and have succeeded before.GOD be with you. I am going through your post for the second time. I dont have words to tell you, you are so wonderful. I am the mother of one and I take care of her full time and do the house hold chores. all the time I thought I was overworking. but after going through what you have written I feel there are so many wonderful people in this world who dream big and try so hard to achieve it. keep up the good work dr.mum and we can all crack this exam.

Thank all of you, my friends. To be honest, taking care of children plus working is much easier than only taking care of children and staying at home. I can use my work time to study and relax. And I have an good excuse to leave part of chores to my husband. He doesn't do the housekeeping and laundry, but he has to take care of our son and cook for him when I'm working. Like what I said before, I had no time during weekend. That's because I'm at home, I have to do everything, especially playing with my son. During weekend I only can study after my son falls to sleep. But after a whole day's working, I want to sleep too. My suggestion to the staying home moms is leaving the house works including taking care of children to your husband when he comes home and staying at the library or book store to study. It's not selfish. Your study is not only for yourself, but also for the whole family. As a member of the family, your husband will be more than very happy to help you to make the family's dream come true.
I have been out of study for the whole weeked due to personal issue. I will do GI first and hopefully I can finish it by this weekend. Next week, I will do endocrine, and leave one week to histology.

Asha Kamat, I'm planning to take the exam by the end of next year. I have no choice. Maybe all of you pass all the exams already. But different people have different situation and background, if the plan is suitable for me and is the best one I can do, it's OK. I don't mind how long it will take me to finish my goal, as long as I try my best, there's no regret. Do my best, God will give me what I deserve.

I did pretty good tonight. Read 25 pages by using 3 hours. Not too bad for me. OK, I can sleep well tonight without guilty.
Tomorrow, try to do 10 pages per hour. But no rush.
I'm so happy because I'm busy. Thank you, my God, for giving me so many interesting things to do to make my life not so boring.

how are you? you are absolutely right, every person is in a different situation and the smart one knows what to do at that moment, you have definately made a good decision for yourself.......but I would like to suggest that you take a month off before you take your exams , so that you can read thoroughly.

Till now, 3 pages left. Not too bad. I can finish them before going to bed. Having been study for a month, till now, I got some feeling of study. Not too late. I find that making a specific goal for each day, like 30 pages per day, is more effective than just saying finish this chapter in 3 days.

Have to do so much translation.  The speed is very low. Anyway, I have to go through it at the first time, hopefully, I can be much faster and more effective at my 2nd reading.

Just checked other people's thread. Some new prep programs are mentioned.
passprogram.net, to me, it's too expensive.
score95.com is not too bad. I can try it. $129 for 6 months.
Today I did OK. not bad, but not good either. I will study till 1:30am. Hopefully, I can finish physiology this week. I should buy BRS physiology as my second book.
