Asi wrote: Hello, I am an IMG, graduatd in 1994 and ECFMG certified in 1996. I tried to get in to the residency, but did not match because of my low scores. I gave up after trying for 3 years, took up a job in health care field and have been working for 6 years. I recently called ECFMFG to ask if I can retake the exams beause it's going to be 10 years since I passed the exams. They told me that I need to get a letter from my state licensing board that my score are not valid anymore. I got the letter from state board and started preparing for the exams. What do you think my chances are getting into residency since I am an old graduate now? I appreciate a response from anyone who is in the similar situation or anyone who retook the exams.

Thank you GL for your advice. What is USCE? Thanks. Hi Baker, Yes, I received the letter from State Board Of California. Thanks.

USCE is United States Clinical Experience. But you say you've been working in the medical field for 6 years, so that's more than enough. since you'll retake all the steps, you have plenty of chances, now focus on get as high scores as you can. Good luck!
