Many of the IM programs are asking for US clinical experience which does not include observerships. Do anyone of you think it is worth applying to such programs? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

many of programs don't consider observeship as USCE, but I know some programs consirder it, so it vary..
hand on- training is better then observeship, observeship better than nothing

I didn't remember, wile I was searching for individual sites for resedency,, I found in FAQs that they consider observeship
I think that was in North East, maybe NY
