Hello and aslkm, everyone I am a new comer, can you guys help me with this tough nut,I am not sure if they ask such qs,but i was told H-W eqs is HY.jazalalla! Here goes.... This is a classic data set on wing coloration in the scarlet tiger moth (Panaxia dominula). Coloration in this species had been previously shown to behave as a single-locus, two-allele system with incomplete dominance. Data for 1612 individuals are given below: White-spotted (AA) =1469 Intermediate (Aa) = 138 Little spotting (aa) =5 Calculate the following frequencies: (f)A = (f)a = (f)AA = (f)Aa = (f)aa =

.....by d way dis is the ans to the qs , just let me know the way to get it,if u can..thanx ( A = (2 * (1469) + (138))/(2 * (1469 + 138 + 5)) = .954 or 95.4% ( a = 1 - .954 = .046 or 4.6% ( AA = (.954) 2 = .910 or 91% ( Aa = 2 (.954)(.046) = .087 or 8.7% ( aa = (.046) 2 = .002 or .2%

the more u re scared of it the little biostats u know. when u get a question like this, just think in terms of SIMPLE FREQUENSY OR RATES..remember u have to calculate a given number and divide that by the total. this is best understood by a table...

if u dont understand please do ask what it is that is confusing u...might as well do it now..than nearer D day .... just remeber the basic confusers!! allele frequency is different from genotype frequency finding the frequencies is simply a matter of addition of a required numerator and use of an appropriate denominator... if nothing else works, draw a table

BRAVO! I Finally got it!, Thankyou so much study_ing for that graph ,it helped a lot,to clear my concept. In fact I have a small discovery to share regarding the solution, the graph works for alleles but not exactly for the phenotype, where u hav 2 use other equations......check out the attacd file. Also for all u guys havin a tuf time check out this great website to clear H-W concepts http://www.phschool.com/science/biology_place/lab... by d way d thing dat worries me is dat I cant afford to spend so much time on one concept as i did 4 dis,my date is in december and i hav a lot to study...do u guys think KAPLAN DVDS would be good to boost up d prepration...I seem to grasp more on the lectures...Thanx.

do kaplan dvds..biochem and bs are a must..decide the rest for urself..u have loads of time.just be willing to work hard..go one concept at a time and ull be surprised how much u'll cover..u need to spend time on atleast the HY topics such as this one..if u try to simply cram it. 1 there's a very high likelihood u'll forget it 2 in my exam there were hardly any questions involving direct recall..perhaps a max of 10 in tota..even the most basic of things were tested in a two step manner.thats when u realise time spent in understanding concepts is worth it GL
