Well dear, you have a point...

so how do you suggest to call the red urine until you have confirmation of its nature... just "red urine" confused... as much as an independent entity that myoglobinuria could be, it is still very hard to name it as such just to looking at it even with some clinical info...

Well, this is completeley irrelevant to the question though... but I enjoy this type philosophical disagreement--- gringrin

Again very strange question.
A red color urine is called as "red color urine". Not" hematuria".

In that case I must be missing something big for quite a time now... in my practice I've never seen a single patient note in which the terms "red urine" were used, not even in the US during rotations nor CS preparation... then again, whoever is right is completeley irrelevant to exam or patient care.

hmm. i think we should not dwell too much on this point. the patient is going to complain of 'bloody urine'. he does not care what it is. if patient is on some medication like rifampicin, that usually explains the red colored urine. otherwise, we investigate as a case of hematuria

myoglobinuria and hemoglobinuria will present as 'dark colored urine' or 'coca cola colored urine'.
