Hi, all: I have passed step1 on my 3rd attempt!!! 202/82. Strongest eras: Genetics, Biochemistry, Cardiovascular system; weakest eras: Behavioral Science; renal system. Wow! Genetics is my favorite subject I have worked in this field for 10 years. I only want to say to those people who try to retake the exam, should stay positive! and read books over and over again. and listen dr. Golijan's CD, understanding his single point of his lectures. I took NBME3 about a week ago of my exam and only got 420 . I was kind of nervous. I got the mail on last Fri. My husband opened the mail for me. I am so happy!! I tried the best I can during my exam to manage my time and moved on along the exam. My score is not greatest one compared to others but I am happy. I could move on the next step. I could become a licensed doctor in united state! Finally, I would thank all people who post question and experience and discussions in this forum. Good luck to all!!

Congrats!!!!! I am going to attempt it fourth time....Last try was 10 years ago. Just one question... What is the scope of senior IMGs with multiple attempts to get into residency in Paeds or Family medicine in NY? You are an inspiration for me....GL with remaining steps....

oldkidontheblock: I am not familiar with NY era. I believe that you would not get an chance if you did't give a try. Just be positive. It does not matter how many times you tried. If I would mind the multiple attempts I would not gave my 3rd try. Paeds or Family medicine Iwould not think they are competitive as others. Good luck!

Hi: Since i am an old IMG, the first time I was scared and spent lots of time to work my terminology using my medical dictionary a lot. As being a busy mom with a full time job, I have no time off during last a few weeks my review. I have chosen my exam day on" no school day" as an excuse to take time off. I thought I totally failed, scored 173/71. Not too far behind? I want to give 2nd try in a few months. This time I was over confident. The score was 177//73. Oh my God! I was depressed!! Be serious with 3rd try! I reduced my working hours, and restudied each subject from kaplan and BRS and HY books. I really appreciate Dr. Golijan's CD lecture. I did most BSS and bought Kaplan's Qbank for one month scored 76%. Luckily, I took off from work for 5 weeks and sent kids to grandparent's house aching for the exam!! During the last week of my study my husband was out of town. He prepared food for me enough for a whole week. I realize we all have so much potential! It is tough, but now I am happy. School just started, I did all I can do for my kids and spent some time at school. I think I made right choices! ing, thanks for asking

Hi, thanks all your responses. I am sorry about back to you later. To lisa: I have the CD for BSS. I think it is not very clinical oriented but you can test the basic knolwedge you have. If you have enough time I would suggest you to go through the Qs. Madavank: I have used kaplan notes 2001 version, BRS(path, physio and BS, biochemistry) and HY(embryology, neuroanatomy, Histology) Golijan notes with audio CD. Qs: Physiology Qbank, Kaplan Qbank and BSS. If you have additional qs let me know. GL on your study.

Hi zhou, I did qbank earlier this year, because my nbme is not good enough, i postponed the exam. For me i felt like failed the exam. When you prepare the exam, did you use qbank every time? I don't know If I should sign up qbank again. Thanks.

summer.thunder: I work at a clinical genetic site. I reduced my hours to 50% since last year. I know it needs endurance. I was under the pressure that I gave to myself. So, be positive, you have not try yet! Do not think "fail" just try to do the best you can! Good luck Hi, ing, nice to meet you again! I thought you have done the step1. For me, the 1st I buy 3months Kaplan from online during my study. i was totally wasting money bcz I don't know how to study usmle. I bought 1 months again b4 exam. 2nd I use CD from e bay, 3rd time I have same problem as you have. I posted my q on this site that it seems no good answer for me. I thought if I didn't pass that meant I had not mastered the concept. I decided sign up kapkan Q Bank again. I found there are some updated info with added Qs, also it is good for your timing control. when I study this time I do qs by system instead of subject. And research the way they ask the qs from the same system. this way you could clear the concept that they wish you to master. Finally, I suggest you sign the q bank, one question is usmleword VS kaplan. usmle world only available to step2 When I signed up. Good luck. let me know if you have any q!

Thank you for taking time answer my question. Since I have 2.5 months till my day, just not sure if I use my time efficiently, wondering between I should use questions to drive my study and I should repeat reading. Thank you for your suggestion. Wish you good luck for your future steps.
