Genetic susceptibility to disease may operate at the level of the imune response and there is increasing evidence that this is an important phenomenon. The development of immune responsiveness in general is under genetic control. Most associations are slight but there is the clearest association when there is a strong autoimmune component, and the most stricking example is

A autoimmune hemolytic anemia
B wegener's granulomatosis
C chediak higashi syndrome
D ankylosing spondylitis
E autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura.
