Hi friends, I'm happy to inform you that I've passed USMLE step 1 and scored 92. Althouth I did not reach my goal which is 95+ but anyway I've done with it. This is the first longest exam in my life. About the exam: 8 hours, the night before the test day I couldn't sleep, I only closed my eye for 2 hours, this affected my performance in the following day. I was really exhausted, lost my concentration, slowed down my reading and reasoning, and a little bit hangover during the last 3 hours. After the exam I felt that I would fail but thank God for the result. I feel relaxed now and can concentrate to do step 2 which I will sit for it in December. I'm a 1997 graduate who studied medicine in my native language, not Latin and neither French. My preparation is 8 months but the first 3 months I studied medical terms. My preparation: Before Jul 2005: I did not know about USMLE and residency in the US, the government in my country does not disclose the information because they are afraid of losing "Gray matter". End of Jul 2005: arrived the US as a tourist. Aug 31, 05: signed up as a newbie in this forum and knew about USMLE Nov 05: started my preparation First 3 months: studied medical terms especially anatomy Jan 06: started doing and posting questions and discussions Materials: exclusively Kaplan except Pathology I used Rapid review. Read all subject 3 times, for pathology I did 5 times. Did qbank, Rapid review questions, Robbins Qbank cumulative score, random, timed: 69% Kaplan simulated exam: 72% (30 days before) NBME 2: 560 (45 days before) My biggest mistakes: did not sleep well the day before the exam and lost my concentration during the test, did not use high yield series. I'm sorry to some people in this forum 1. Sorry because I could not response your email if you send me, you know I received a lot of emails 2. Sorry because I could not send files you want by email, all I have I posted in the forum, if you could not find or download, ask someone who prepared step 1, I cannot stay in the same place to help you although I like to do that. And many thanks to you who participate to post threads and discuss with me. Good luck.
