Hi there, I have a question about USMLE.

I live in Greece and I am currently in the 3rd year of Medicine over there (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). I just got my immigrant visa so i have no visa issues about staying permanently in USA so I was thinking if the best to do is to finish Medicine in Greece and move here later (do I have to take the USMLE exam if i do that?) or if I should come now and start from the beggining (all the colleges that I spoke with require at least one year in a domestic college or University as an undergraduate and competing mcat results after that).

Thanks for any replies, I feel kinda lost here

In your case, the shortest way is to get M.D. diploma in your country. Then come to the US and take USMLE.

Good luck

hmm but if one starts again, will u be treated as an IMG or not..if not, it might be worth avoiding a lot of future hassles at the cost of time though.

seekewrh, i am in the same boat as you. It is very difficult to do a transfer from foreign medical school to the USA. I mean VERY DIFFICULT. I just finished 3 years medical school in Manchester UK. I have been trying for 2 years. Written to almost all medical school in the states. Never has so many rejections in MY LIFE~!!
I got lucky this time around. My husband took a position in texas tech and the university did a BIG favor for us and i got a conditional offer to enter the 3rd year programme. I HAVE TO PASS STEP 1~~!!
I alredi quit manchester and the only way to continue my medical education is to pass step 1 this coming monday~! or else everything i hav done so far is down the drain.
So to avoid all these BIG MESS, i strongly recommend you to finish your degree in greece and apply for residency programme here.
