Thank you, Ann. I will use 4-5 months to prepare for Step 3. I will follow your suggestion and read several chapters for washington manual and see how it works. I also have a CMDT 06. Is that book useful for step 3?

depends....did u read CMDT for CK?...i would think it's a little too much for step 3 , step 3 tests very common concepts, and CMDT might not be that high-yield for that( it's too extensive)

Strong medicine is a review book..the other review books i considered(but didnt buy) were Crush Step 3, First Aid step3. I think Swanson is mainly for family medicine(if u read older experiences on this forum many used this book, but of late i think the above 3 review books r better, coz they r directed towards step 3 and cover all aspects)...take ur pick of the 3..get one of them and read it thro and thro...i dont know how much CCS is discussed in Crush and First Aid, but in strong medicine, there is one chapter that explains al the cases from the USMLE CD, and in the course of the book there r some more cases(7-8).. hope that helps(i hope i havent confused u. .)...good luck in ur prep

Hi an, From the way you are able to deal with the questions being asked, it seems u must have had a very good grasp of your subject. Thanks a lot. Because I am justing starting my preparation I wonder if there is any thread where you have discussed about step1 and 2CK and CS, if I have missed it, could you just send me a link or could you advise in short about preparation for both steps, in particular what subjects and what books to refer to. I gather this does not appear to be the appropriate forum to discuss this. Or else just send me the link, or if others wouldnt like it to be discussed here then may be send me an email. but your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

although clinical experience will make taking step 3 easy for u, u can overcome it's lack by a good grasp on the subject matter...and if u have a good step 2 score and work hard on the ccs u can definitely pass step 3 with good score...

Hi An, congrats on the great score. I had a doubt about usmle step 3 application. They have asked about social security no. (which I dont have) or National Identification no. so what should we put for it. Kal

2 months is enough, especially if u have recently finished step 2...since step 3 has 2 parts the MCQs and CCS...If u have done CK in last 4-6 months u dont need to spend a whole lot of time studying theory(u can start by solving a few tests from Q bk and see how u perform on them, if u score anything more than 38-40, ur theory is sound)..that leaves u with CCS and solving MCQs from UW...and CCS u will be thorough with 10-15 days of solid prep, and all the remaining time u can do UW, and maybe read a review book,i.e. Strong Med/Crush/First Aid.

I didnt use step 3 notes/tapes, so can't comment on them..but in LisaM's journal i think kingsofke mentioned something about step 3 notes/tapes and how he was going to read them...maybe u can refer there..it's on the first page of the prep journal.

hi infliximab, since u have only 5 more days, i suggest u don't read new material, just try to reinforce the material u have read, like UW psychiatry answers, and kaplan step 2 psychiatry notes which r very good and concise... good luck on the exam...450 is a good score,
