hi study_ing and all friends

i have one little confusion regarding when to have UW subscription
is it useful with first reading( solving questions subject wise with first reading of kaplan notes) or after first reading.

i also read regarding conrad fischer IM book . how good is it.
how can i get it.

those who are using UW --- please guide me.

thanks

i asked the same question when i started my preparation..for uw but no one replied me...its ok..if u can afford uw..start from now..i think its better to do when u r doin the diff subjescts...and then rewise..it..but its my opinion..cuz im slow reader..regarding conard fischer book..u can go online and look it specially u can find it on ebay..its good but i think..its more useful for step3..smiling face

hi sheeezooo

thanks a lot for your feedback.

i think if i take it for 2 months , i can do it along my prep ( 1st reading).

any one else would like to share the experience with UW at 1st reading.

thanks

one more doubt friends,
can we save or take print outs of UW questions

thanks

unfortunately not sad ull have to take notes.

i started uw early...but i am a recent grad, had done patho extensively in step 1 an dfound reading notes contributing little to retention. also im a fresh grad, and i remembered quite a bit from final yr roattaions.

i still find uw TOUGH to complete in i month. u cud take a longer subscription. i wanted teh 2 month one but i took a one month one so that i wudnt laze out...its tough if u r someone who uses qs asa learning tool. ppl on the forum have done it in 15 days. but i presume they were done with the studying part.

try doing kaplan q book for step 2. do one test each from paeds, gyn, im etc if ure doing well, take uw. if u feel book gives u a lot ot learn, stick to it and do uw later. good luck smiling face

sheeezoooo, im losing baaaad sad

anyhow i ve taken a greater break than i can afford to. btw i have paeds qs left and their qs have detailed explaantion. ..thats what heas reallyupsette dmy timing. had i psych and opthalmology left for teh end, i wud have meanaged. so those who havent done UW paeds yet and r saving it for theend, its better to start now and divide them throut ur studyinmg period.

off i go smiling face

hi study_ing

thanks for input.

i am a recent grad and just took step 1. read path goljan extensively.

i have started prep 10 days ago and began with a dignostic test.

i took usmle cd 1 block and scored 78 %

i also took one block kaplan medicine q book and got 70%.

what i thought--- take UW subscription for 2 months and do it subject wise.

for example, if i read cardio today --- finish all cardilogy questions.

how useful can this approach for all subjects. i can read 6-7 hous a day.

so was thinking if i can finish all subjects with UW in 2 months. i plan to take step 1 in mid jan.

please share your views.

dear studying, when are u appearing for exam??

  #67

well in a week's time...

today its tough..i have no distractions, yet i get the 'trapped into medicine ' feeling. often wonder y i put myself through all this. usually i get over with it, reminding myself to be grateful to God for what i have..but today its not working sad. Its probably the continuous pressured scheduele getting to me. I hope its worth it in the end. and that God helps me to understand and cherish His blessings.

study_ing, Best of Luck ....may God Bless you , you'll do great....don't worry at all, just keep on revising what you have learnt ....don't think it would stick or not....you have to do your work and then leave the result to someone up there.....he is with you....Good Luck to you.

Study_ing,

i want to assure you that all your efforts have been worthwhile.i know we all need to be told this at some point during this gruelling journey of preparing for USMLE.you are not alone on this. we all are fellow journeymen.

from your posts it is obvious that you have been working hard and covering a lot of ground.unless you do something sheer foolish stuff, i don't see why you shouldn't get the scores you are aiming for. and don't waste your time trying to pursuade us and yourself that you are not capable of it.
